Octuplet Birth...... While children are a blessing this situation kind of gets my back up. The lady that had these babies already has six at home, doesn't seem to be employed nor is there any mention of a husband/spouse. She lives at home with her parents with the current six children. First off can you tell me why anyone that was able to conceive six children naturally needed to have fertility treatment. The biggest question of all of this is who is footing the bill for her current six and the new eight. I am sorry but is it any wonder why things are a mess financially. She had to have some sort of aid with those children, someone (most likely us the tax payers) will be footing the bill for the new set and all the medical costs that are associated with their prenatal and postnatal care. Ok there is my frustrated rant for the day. I can't imagine how much financial help she needs and will be asking for. I have three children (12, 9 and 4) and mine drive me nuts and push me to bankrupt with their needs (not wants) so go figure trying to take care of all those children then adding a new batch to that. |
I'm sorry,that is just too selfish. I just hope she finally decides that 14 is enough! and yes, someone needs to obviously play reproductive police with people like this, they are playing reproductive advocaters, for lack of a better description. jmo. |
Aside from the financial aspect how do you give each of them the time they need. I work full time and have three and I swear sometimes I feel so bad because there is not enough hours in the day. Thankfully I have hubby for back up to tag team and do what has to be done for them. |
I don't see it any different then The family with 17 & counting. You can't judge unless you know the whole story Maybe her family is Rich. Just because she chose to have more than 4 kid's doesn't give anyone the right to judge her. Who says you have to have a husband & live in your own house to have children. JMO |

I don't think that anyone in this thread said that you have to have a husband and live in your own house. There are times when family dynamics change due to divorce or death but trying to singly raise six children is not a one person job and then to add another eight is a bit much. If she were ok financially I am sure she wouldn't be living at home with her parents. |

I TOTALLY AGREE with you!!!! I was kind of peeved hearing about this too. What kind of doctor would do IVF on a woman who already has 6 kids?? This situation is sooo wrong. It definately puts my back up too. :( |
I totally understand not wanting to get rid of any of the fetuses. That I wouldn't be able to do. But to have six already and look to add to that number is a bit much. I am curious to know how old this mom is..all the reports state that she is young. With six kids ranging between 2-7 she must have been having back to back babies. |
Well, from my own experience, growing in a family of 9 was not easy. We were financially challenged but we always had food on the table and clothes on our backs--be it hand me downs. It always seemed as though I missed out on a lot because by the time I came along, my mother was tired and my older siblings were basically my caretakers. There is just so many hours in a day and a person can only do so much. again, jmo. |
Wow, I just read that too... you know to tell you the truth I would love to have 5 or 6 kids , but it was NOT financially posible for me and my husband. so we stop at 3. right now we are paying for my daughters college and is VERY expensive.. my oldest son join the marines thank to that he is on the road to be a VET, do this people think about this kids education, clothes and support for the next 18 years... ??? wow, six at home and now 8 more... crazy if you ask me..LOL hugs, Carmen in nj |

I read an article on CNN that stated she has a husband who does contract work and will be heading out to Iraq soon. I too feel that this lady had no business receiveing any type of fertility treatments. All the other kids are under the age of 7!!! |
I heard this woman is planning on breast feeding all of them!!.....Holy Cow!!....She better get herself some udder salve! |

The duggar family has 18 children and they are home schooled, clothes are handed down and clothes are sewn (well now the girls seem to be wearing store bought clothes) and they budget and have no debt so they are in good shape financially. My problem with them is that they have to buddy up and the older children take care of the younger ones. I think when you need the other children to care for the younger ones then you have too many. I understand that kids need chores and responsiblity but rearing their siblings is a bit much. That is the parents job so when you need to set up buddy systems to get things done then you need to reexamine what exactly your doing. |

Well, she can nurse, but, she will have to supplement also, and actually babies need their own mothers breast milk. Sorry, it's just ridiculous, and I sure don't want my tax dollars going to her |

You know another thing that bothers me is that insurance companies are refusing to pay for the IVF for folks that have no children and are trying to have one. Yet someone with six gets it paid for. I just saw a news segment with a pregnant lady that was at her wits end because the insurance company was refusing to pay for a medication she needed but they deemed might be experimental. So go figure how some get over and some suffer. |
Tell in like it is!!!! You all know from the story that she is in that little house that is not even hers. I feel sorry for her mom and dad, it sounds like she is running all over them. You know all our tax dollars is paying for this. I have no problem if people if they need help, and you may not feel the same way. But I think this people do this or the ones with hands out but they are driving their $40,000 cars and SUV should not be give nothing!!!! It drives my crazy to see people taking hand outs and driving a better car then I do!!!! But about the lady with all these kids, I think the Doctors should be disbarred. They should have never let this happen. But there is many that go to get fertility and lie to the doctors. Maybe she did that, so I think they need to as more questions. |

I really don't think it's anyone's business :) Obviously they had enough to pay for in vitro. My husband and I have 6 under 11 and anyone who has an opinion about it or thinks they can tell me what to do can shove it. :) I am completely disgusted that people are actually saying she should have aborted some. That is just no ones place to say that she should. I think this whole thread is horrible. |

Don't worry folks, I am sure she will get her own reality TV show to pay for it all! Did you see the other one on TV with the set of 6(John and Kate plus eight)...they just got a brand new house courtesy of plastering their kids faces on TV! I would be pretty sure the TV network is paying for that! And how long do you think the Duggars will be making their own clothes now that they have their reality show? Not long I will bet! I want my own "Life with a Yorkie Puppy" reality show...you guys will watch...right??? |

John and Kate have gotten a lot of things courtesy of people seeing them on tv. They have said it several times and how much they have appreciated it. I think that the new house though is because if the job he took with his wife's friend's husband. It's more money. The Duggars are actually pretty money savvy. Before they had their children he worked a couple jobs and had his real estate license and bought up some houses and uses them as rentals. They do everything in cash as well. So for them their money comes from that early smarts. |
