You know, that's a mean thing to assume. No one even knows this person, just the tid bit that the media has said, and the gossip about it is insane!

You know another thing that bothers me is that insurance companies are refusing to pay for the IVF for folks that have no children and are trying to have one. Yet someone with six gets it paid for. I just saw a news segment with a pregnant lady that was at her wits end because the insurance company was refusing to pay for a medication she needed but they deemed might be experimental. So go figure how some get over and some suffer.

This story is very upsetting to me. Especially today when hard working

I think the mother is irresposible in every way imaginable!
No one on this earth can raise 14 children on their own. Not even
superwoman. I know she has a husband but he'll be leaving soon for
Iraq. Actually how can he leave? If this can't get him to stay what can?

I think "John & Kate plus 8" put an idea into her head.
Somewhere along the line we will be paying for this family.
She did not have to have all those eggs implanted. Two or three
would have done the job. There is more to this story for sure.
It's wonderful that all the babies were so healthy. Thank God for that.

The only way he can do that is the mother told him to.
The mother makes the decision as to how many she want's implanted.
She also signs a contract stating the samething so the doc can't be
held responsible for so many.

I quess anyone can have as many children as they want but they should be responsible and care for them not live off of the government

Just inserting a bit of levity into it. Who knows....but I was just joking. Don't take it so personal. I am not judging you for having your six children. Affording six is one thing but fourteen is another. I just find this whole situation with that lady comical. Times are hard as hell. Her husband has just appeared and is a soldier (that is the first I am hearing of it)...by the way I never knew a solider that can make enough money to support fourteen children. God help me they have six already and he is off to war....to me that makes it even worse. Your husband is ready to go off to a war zone and god knows if he will make it home. So you have more babies to add to the pile you already have to raise.

By the way I don't think it's gossip. People are commenting on the information that is being released about this family.

Wow so I really don't understand why she would choose to implant that many. Usually I think they try for three so you get a better chance. Man that doctor must have been crazy.

You can't stop people from talking. After all that's the Media's purpose,
to spread news like this so people by their paper's.
What's insane is a human being having 6 children under the age of
4 and delibertally implanting at least 8 eggs to get at least that amount
of babies with a husband going off to war and not knowing if he will
return. Now that's INSANE.

My girlfriend chose to have 2 eggs implanted. She almost had 3 babies as 1 egg turned out to be identical twins. The 2nd egg did not take. What if any of the 8 implanted had split? It could have been even more babies. I just hope and pray that her husband does make it home and everything works out for them.

Wow could you imagine. Don't you also run the risk if you implant too many and they take that you can have a miscarriage or certinly a super early delivery due to the body not being able to manage so many babies.

If I remember correctly the Lady a couple years back that had that many had to be on bed rest and they kind of had her laying inverted a good bit to help relieve some of the pressure from all the babies. OUCH is all I can say.

Honestly, I think there are a lot of assumptions going on here. Since she won't give her identity and no interviews have been done yet, how do we know if maybe her family is filthy rich and has plenty of money and resources to take care of all the children?? We don't know. The one little snippet I read was I believe her dad telling reporters that they have a much bigger house somewhere else that no one would be able to find them at. What does that mean? I'm just saying that everyone is jumping to the assumption that taxpayers will be paying for all of this. That still remains to be seen. Now personally, I'm leaning towards that thought too but I hope I'm wrong.

I really don't care how many kids anyone has, as long as I don't have to pay for them. I'm tired of us having a hard time making it, and us paying in over $10,000 a year in taxes. I could use some of that money myself, heck, I would love to have health ins. If peopel want kids, more power to them, get a job and have as many as you want

My girlfriend wound up delivering at 27 weeks. It was a very long couple of months while they were in the hospital and even longer time when the babies came home. They had to have monitors as well as special feedings. They could not eat more than a couple of cc's of food at a time and then they had to sit up after feedings due to poorly developed digestive systems. My poor gf was about to loose her mind. By the time she fed them, pumped and then changed them, it was literally time to start all over. She got maybe 1 1/2 hours of sleep between the feedings. and that is just 2 babies!

the women out west who had 6 was, I think, on bedrest for a very long time. I want to think it was for at least 4 mos if not more but I can't say for sure.

Angie it means that they bought when land was cheap :p Just messing with you. I hope they do have a big old house because with that many kids woo wee they are going to need a place to hide out when the kids start fighting. :D

The articlalI just read said that her Dad is from Iraq and may have to go back there to get a job to raise money for the family. It didn't mention a father and it also said that when she originally went to the doctors for IVF, she was already pregnant. Is this old info I am reading?? I am confused!

I'll ask my sister where she saw their pictures, it is a black woman, not sure if it showed just her or all her kids, she didn't say much about it

:D I hear ya. I know I read today that as part of the budget constraints for the economy our mayor has said they will be looking at govt workers and a whole slew of other folks paying for their medical benefits (which they pay hardly nothing now if not $0 for). I think eventually with the economy everyone including soldiers will have to pay into their benefits. I know I pay about $450 a month to cover myself, hubby and our three kids. Can you imagine for now they are not paying for health care but if and when they do what that bill will be like. Jeeze he will be working just to pay for that policy.

Yeah that was the family. I know they didn't do a lot of promotion when they had the babies.

they usually always do implant enough that if some don't make it, they still have some. The thing is, it's dangerous and selfish of the mother not to have some of the embryos removed. If God wanted us to have litters then we would have that many without taking fertility drugs. Fertility drugs should ONLY be used for people that can't conceive, and she's already poved she could conceive without taking them

That is great if they are filthy rich and have all the resources to take care of the babies. But you are saying what I think is trying to be said in this thread, if you cannot take care of the babies, maybe it is too many to have. If someone is going to have babies then "pawn" them off why have them? I get needing help and working and so on, but come on, when you have 6 little ones already, you should know very well that it takes a lot to be a mother to each of them. Why would you want to deny or better yet, limit the time you have to give to each child?

With this market and that scumbag Madoff not even the filthy rich are filthy rich anymore. Can we just ponder something..how come people that are filthy rich that can afford a million kids don't have that many? :p

Maybe a military wife on here will chime in and tell us how well (ballpark) that their spouse or they themselves are paid. I wonder if a military salary can handle that size of a household.

If she had lots of money, don't think her and her 6 kids would be living with her parents(which they have already said) in a 3 bedroom home
