Lol.. Your goats cute. Id like to have a goat, But after keely got attacked by one, im not sure how she would respond..lol



I Guess im just weird? If i could bring the horses inside, and sleep with me I would. I just dont understand how animals kept outside can get the same attention if they wre kept inside? Am I terrible because of that? I couldnt just stand by and watch my animal roam around outside. Or feel how cold it is outside and know that the dog is fine? My problem, is, i guess. That i see the dogs that would THRIVE INSIDE a home. And would love to be inside a home. BUt are not allowed in side a home. Okay, I guess what I was trying to say (And trust me, Aloto fo what i say gets misinterpreted because of the way I word things, and being a newfie makes that 10 times worsebeause of the way we tend to word things) Is that, if a puppy is raised inside of a home. Wuldnt they want to stay in the home? I really really really hate the people that bring home a puppy and stick it outside and expect it to just love being out in the cold. Maybe i would see it otherwise if i have ever accually come in contact with a dog that wwanted to live outside all of the time. But i have yet to see it. Im talking about the people that leave an animal outside. Feed it one a day, give it water and shelter. BUT the rest of the day, the owners are inside sitting on their butts and watching tv, while the dog/s are outside craving affection. Unfortunatly, it happens too much.

my german shephard and doberman were both raised inside because as puppies,it wouldnt have been rite to just stick them outside. as they grew older they both wanted to stay outside...they prefer it that way...they love to as you put it "roam" around,they enjoy it and as i stated earlier,we have to drag them inside during snow or bad weather...the whole time they are in they whine or paw at the door to get out

A dog just being thrown outside is WRONG 100%. There was a dog down the street from where I used to live that was chained to a tree with no shelter, food, or water. The tree was his shelter. This was in South Ok about 45 minutes from the Texas border, so even though our winters were fairly mild, our summers were excruciating! I also have witnessed the owner literally beating the dog. I was too little at the time to do anything about it, but I remember going home and crying everytime I saw that dog. We had a Shar-pei at the time and she had to be kept outside or she would have literally killed our cat. She was very animal aggressive. If they weather was bad (too hot, too cold, tornadoes, whatever), and at night she did come inside. She also wasn't just left outside. I was out there all the time playing with her and my family was always out there. We had a fenced in yard (2.5 acres) for her to run around in with a large dog house with warm bedding and food and clean water for her. She LOVED being out there chasing (or trying to catch, rather) the birds and barking at cars, etc. She loved lounging under our shade tree. You see, some dogs just aren't forgotten outside.

Like we all have said, passion is GREAT, but instead of just going off on people, you should learn how to rephrase things. You will get a lot farther in life and accomplish a lot more by calmly explaining your point of view.

Well keeping a horse, or any other agricultural animal in the house could technically be considered cruel, and against the law. Most townships have ordinances concerning how much land you must have for a horse, because horses need to be able to get enough exercise. A horse would never get enough if it lived in the house, even if you walked it God designed animals to be outside. Some, not all, dogs were bred down from their original ancestors to be inside companions, while other dogs were bred down to be a companion but still dwell outdoors. Dogs are not people. If a dog is raised outdoors and is well taken care of, it doesn't look at the neighbor dog in jealousy, or spend it's days feeling sorry for itself (boy maybe we should be more like dogs....). There are a lot of cases of neglected outdoor dogs, but there are many of neglected and abused indoor dogs too.

Keelys Mom, I totally understand your passion and I agree that even though there are dogs kept outside and given plenty of attention and love in addition to food/water/shelter, many, many times that is NOT the case. Many dogs live a life of misery outside, forgotten and it's heartbreaking.

I've never had a big dog but I have no reason to doubt those of you who post about their large dogs living happily outside. The fact that you're on a dog forum indicates your love of dogs and I'm not saying any of you would neglect your dogs but we all know it is waaay too common. phfgkl you might take fantastic care of your outdoor dogs but obviously your neighbor does not. This is the kind of thing the OP is so upset about. I'm sure it upsets you too.

Keelys mom- obviously a lot of people aren't happy with how you phrase your posts but your passion for animals is very obvious. I think having that fire at 15 is amazing and I think as you get older and mature you will learn how to temper your passion with tact and you will make a big difference in this world! I think you're an awesome girl!

I can understand where you are coming from in thinking all dogs want to be inside. When I was little we got a beagle/sheltie mix, as a puppy he was inside but since I was little I didn't have much say in what went on with him. So when he started getting bigger my parents wouldn't let him stay in. As I got older I would bring him in the house to play with him but he would only stay inside for a few minutes before he was pawing at the door to go back outside. When we moved into a house that didn't have a sliding door linking to the back we left the door to the garage open with a bed for him to come in and sleep. It wasn't until he started getting a lot older that he would actually want to be inside. Dogs are just not like people, as much as we like to think they are, they also have their differences. But there is a difference between completely neglecting a dog, and just having an outside dog.

Now, on the other hand, My Mom is here from Illinois for 6 weeks. She just lost her 14 1/2 year old shih tzu tonight, and it's been very hard on my mom(she's almost 83), not to hijack this thread, but, really don't feel like starting a new one at this time. quick prayers please. Mom is really taking this hard.

I hope your mom is feeling a bit better this morning. It's just like losing a human companion and I feel for her. Hugs to mom.
