Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() Toby'sMama - thanks so much for posting that. ![]() I'm about to die of sleep deprevation ( ![]() ![]() I don't think that he had any bad intentions. In fact, I believe his intentions were very good. The only things that bothered me were that they were spoken in present tense (and yes, while these things still exist in some peoples' minds and hearts, it isn't the norm. Most people - in general - do not expect blacks to sit at the back of the bus, etc) and that they were racially dividing. Everyone is discriminated against for one reason or another. Yes, their lives may be harder sometimes. Everyone is struggling with something. But I just don't think their lives should be harder. The only way to make it so, is to stop dividing the races, period. and I can't help but believe that statements like that - the way that it was made - divide the races. That's all I'm getting at. It's not that I don't think it's important, it's not that I don't acknowledge that there are still racists. It's that I *desperately* want those things to end, and the ONLY way to do that is to look at someone's face and not have the first thing you see be the color of their skin.

Just as an FYI... I may have gotten a little passionate and seemed angry, but I'm not! I just like debating and I have a lot of excess energy today. I probably should have taken Smokey for a run instead lol Someone here probably read my posts and hates me now Seriously, I don't think we have to agree about what this man really meant. We'll argue about it all night long and not get anywhere. I know what we all do agree on is that everyone is equal and should be treated as such.

| ![]() haha I had to rephrase a lot of stuff I typed because some of it just came out wrong. People probably would have hated me and I wouldn't have meant it the way it came out. Just like today, my friend put a picture on her desktop that she took and I said "You took that? It looks so professional!" I meant it as a compliment (and she knew that) but she gave me a hard time about it and said that I had no faith in her talent.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() OK - now I have to say *one* last thing and I'll really be done. ![]() I, also, feel a lot closer to you guys! I'm *so* glad that we could share our opinions in a civilized manner and we were able to discuss real-life issues. I realize that I may come across rude or angry in my posts...I'm really not. I'm just very, very, very opinionated (and sometimes argumentive. and I'm stubborn as a mule. I'm Irish - can't help it. ![]() ![]() Thanks for the conversation guys! Now, I'm really off to bed. Before I start looking like a raccoon (except spelled correctly ![]()

| ![]() The problem with the past is that even when you let it go , it's always going to be there , you will always remember it and even when you put it aside you never truly forget it. Was the Inauguration of our first black President the best place for him to talk about racial division , hell no. Saying we need to move past racial division is much easier said by the younger generation who are more removed from it than it will be for the older generation who have actually lived through it. Most don't want to forget and don't want their children to forget the struggles they went through. Not from a point of racism but out of pride that they came through it with their head held high at the other end. We need to move forward as a nation , united together where race isn't an issue , but even saying that statement proves how far away we are. Even at a time when a Black leader is elected we still have the need to say black leader. No matter how hard I may try to empathize I have never been considered someones property , I have never had to give up my own name and take my masters , I have never been in fear for my life because I simply wanted to sit in the front of the bus or walk through the door's of a school and be considered equal. I have never and will never know that kind of pain , anger or fear. But all who did probably don't like to be told to move on and get over it simply because it's in the past . We are moving forward , but we shouldn't try so hard to erase the past. We need to understand our nation as a whole the good and the bad and learn from the mistakes of our past and hold onto hope for the future. I hope one day that everyone unites as a whole , but we will not get far if we expect everyone to forget the struggles they went through no matter what their race.

| ![]() I think it's nice when people can agree to disagree. This entire concept anymore by certain agendas and parties that are pushing "unity", when they just mean to shut up and agree with whatever their lifestyle or agenda is and not have an opinion, is completely wrong. People seem to forget that people can be unified as a nation and still allow everyone their own personal belief system. I will never accept what I know in my heart is wrong in this country, but that does not mean that I cannot be unified with this country. However, if that right was stripped from me, I would not be.
