Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Anyone See the Newer ASPCA / Sarah McLachlan Ad? I think many of us have seen the older ASPCA add where Sarah's song "In the arms of an angel" is playing - OMG, it just brings me to my knees, emotionally. Last night, I saw the newer one...and let myself watch it (I can't always do this) and was just heartbroken all over again. The faces/eyes of those BABIES! I think that ad is so good, but man - I feel SO GUILTY whenever I see it. Does anyone else feel that way? It makes me feel so helpless. I give money to animal charities, but still, I just feel like I'm never doing enough. I completed orientation at our Human Ass'n in the fall...but for some reason just can't bring myself to sign up for volunteering, I'm thinking it will just be too heartbreaking. I just wonder if anyone else is affected this way, or is just wackjob ME?

| No you aren't the only one. That ASPCA ad of hers makes me sooooo sad, and tears at my heart. I haven't seen the new one yet. I've thought about doing it but just haven't volunteered for the animals yet either cuz I am afraid I couldn't handle it. I'm the "wackjob" you may see at some Petsmarts that have a glassed in rescued cat adoption section talking to each & every cat individually, then addressing them as a group before I leave the room. I stop in & visit them whenever I go shop at a Petsmart. |

| Yes, I have. Semi off topic, but I heard the last commercial raised something like 30 million dollars. Pretty amazing.

| Seen it and....I just got in the mail today, my 2009 ASPCA membership card. Now i have a questin here, I've been to the local SPCA in my area to donate dog food, but they wouldn't accept it b/c it was an opened bag. IT WAS A HUGE bag of K/D, as you all know, it's not cheap. So i tossed the food and figured I'd donate money. PS- it was opened and maybe 3 cups out of the bag and then i lost my Julz and figured they (SPCA) could use it. Why do you think they refused it? I was just told they only accept UNOPENED BAGS!!!!!

| Maybe because of content contamination possiblity, that is what may have been on their mind... a "better safe than sorry" approach. Some people out there are bad and may put something bad in the food so that was probably their worry. I know I donated a big opened bag of Eukanuba to an animal shelter where I used to live and they took it, but it wasn't aspca... it was a local place, I forgot the name. I donated because my dogs (or was it the cats? I can't remember which) did not like it. I agree with you, .. I didn't want it to go to waste. |

| I haven't seen the new one yet. The older one makes me want to cry though... I just feel so helpless... I want to save them all! But I know I can't.

| I feel you. I have to look away when those commericals come on, because I want to take them all in.

| I haven't seen the new one but the old one makes me cry EVERYTIME it comes on. I have to change the channel as soon as it starts.
