Maybe because of content contamination possiblity, that is what may have been on their mind... a "better safe than sorry" approach. Some people out there are bad and may put something bad in the food so that was probably their worry. I know I donated a big opened bag of Eukanuba to an animal shelter where I used to live and they took it, but it wasn't aspca... it was a local place, I forgot the name. I donated because my dogs (or was it the cats? I can't remember which) did not like it. I agree with you, .. I didn't want it to go to waste.
