| ![]() Before i became a nurse...i use to name drop all the time. At the time i was dating my husband and his father is a cop. So as soon as they pulled me over...they'd see who it was and just say "ugh..forget it...just slow down" Now that i'm a nurse...i Job Drop LoL Cops tend not to give nurses tickets cause they never know when they will end up in an ER with that nurse they gave a ticket to 3 days ago (evil grin) I'm just curious though...if he followed you into the gas station...does that mean HE made an ILLEGAL turn too??? hmmmm.

He parked across the street and walked over to me. |

| ![]() All I know, is if I'm ever in W. Palm Beach Florida, and I get pulled over, I'll be giving them the names of my nephew and his wife. I've had tickets, but, its been years. |

Donating YT Addict | ![]() I'm not trying to ugly or have an attitude by no means, But......my husband is a state trooper in the state of MS. He puts up with alot of people on a daily basis. Some that are doing wrong and don't care......some that like you didn't realize what you've done.......and then just crazy people. he doesn't have quotas to meet........our state does not receive the money from the tickets....the county gets the money. And for warnings.....ha do you know how many warnings he gives and then eventually he will write that person a ticket for doing the same thing 3-4 times. I'm sorry but i come from the other side of this issue. If your doing something wrong own up to it. We all know your not supposed to cross a yellow line and people do it every day trying to get away with it. People speed all the time and then have all these excuses.....but it doesn't change the fact that more accidents happen each day from people breaking the law. ![]() My husband has been doing this for 21 years, so i've heard it all. He's told me of accidents that could have been prevented if someone were paying attention to the laws of the road. People gettting killed for no good reason. And on the issue of knowing someone that's a bunch of bull. my son got a ticket from our local city police for noise violation.....he went and paid it and didn't even ask his dad for help. my best friend got a speeding ticket last year and she paid it. they had enough respect to not ask. i really am sorry but i want everyone to know it's not always that the cop is a jerk or all these other things people say about them. they are doing their job and i'm sick of my husband getting bashed by putting his life on the line, working wrecks of people we know and having to go talk to the family, writing speeding tickets to slow people down so they don't get in an accident. And all everyone does is gripe. ![]() life isn't fair, but i do try my very best to give the cops, state trooper, etc. the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sorry but i come from the other side of this issue. If your doing something wrong own up to it. We all know your not supposed to cross a yellow line and people do it every day trying to get away with it. First of all he had my licence and registration and could see that I have never had any mark against me in 46yrs of driving! Not many can state that and I am darn proud of it! Second, I was not trying to get away with anything. I truly did not realize this turn was not to be made, again everyone has been doing it for all the years I have lived in this town which is 39yrs! I did not give the officier a hard time. I said I have learned something, which of course I did. I also did not throw names around, never have because I have never been stopped. I was only looking for a warning is all. I thought I was entitled to that because I was certainly not doing anything delibertly. That is all I was saying. Hope you feel better now that you got things off your chest. I do know how you feel, having several officers in my family. You got way off the subject but that's ok. I needed to vent and I guess you did too. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() Carol the whole thing was insane. He could have given you a warning especially after seeing your license was clean. In NY every officer has a ticket quota. That is why they have some favored hot zones that the hide and park at when the end of the month comes. While officers do put their lives on the line every day (my brother is a NYPD officer) I do have to say some of them are super zealous with the tickets. A good example is a couple years ago my mom was given a ticket by an officer for the decorative thing that goes around the license plate. He was only supposed to give one ticket but chose to give mom two. When my brother called him and identified himself to question it the cop told him sorry man I didn't know she was an officer's mom. I hit her with the two tickets because the month is almost over and I needed numbers. While some places outside of NY may not have quotas all the preceints here do. The numbers differ from preceint to preceint....but they do have their quotas to make.

| ![]() That's terrible Beth. You would think whatever is on you car is your choice. It is not causing a problem regarding the safety of other's. See what goes on. Yes, these small towns do have their quota's to meet as well. I certainly was not trying to get out of a ticket by any means. I just thought he could have been nicer is all. Than a ticket with no amount on it! Strange. You can bet I won't make that left any more and I will be telling everyone I know who does. I do walk a straight line and follow laws and rules. I was just oblivious to this one. But not any longer. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of ever stopping me again. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() I got a ticket once with no pricing on the front..on the back had a listing for the various violations and their cost then it goes on to add the administrative fees if you were pleading guilty. So check the back good. They can ticket you for the thing that covers the plate with the plastic reflective piece and they can also ticket you for a plate holder that covers the state your from. Mom's did neither. She went to court and the judge ruled in her favor. There is no pricing so they can figure out how much of a budget shortfall they need to make up and give you a price at that point ;0)

I am sorry if my Barney Fife comment offended you, but surely you can see the humor behind the situation. Sometimes that is the only way one can deal with situations. | |

| ![]() Guess what came in the mail yesterday? The fine issued by the town court, I was shocked! Total due is $185.00. ![]() I am so upset with myself for being so darn stupid. I still think I should have gotten a warning. |
