In 1990 I moved to Alabama from Florida to go to college (and live with my grandmother). My parents were building a house up here too. I started going to church with my grandmother. The night I got saved, he asked me for my phone number. I remember telling my parents that night that "I'm going to marry him". We got married a year later. That was the first time I felt that way about a boy, we were 19 when we got married. He has been my best friend, a wonderful husband, and a great father to our children. I actually think I love him more today than I did when we first got married.

My first marriage was at 17...3 weeks after graduating from HS. Yep...I was pg. Why? That's another story.
After 6 years & infidelity...him first (many times), I followed suit (a couple of times).. Anyway, I left him, vowing that I would NEVER marry again.

I had a GREAT time....I dated, short term, long term, for the night...

Fast forward to February 1989...I started a new job (secure facility) & was waiting in the reception area to be 'taken' to my new assignment. Nervous as I was, I heard this voice saying "So, the is your first day?", I looked over & met a set of big brown eyes that took my breath away. Any way we talked for a few minutes & he said he'd graduated from college a year earlier...oooppps tooo young. You see I graduated in '83..at 29, I started college at 26...so I figured he was..oh 23, 24. TOOO YOUNG! We were bonded..newbies so we chatted, had breakfast together, sometime lunch...we were friends. Anyway...the end of April that year, one of the 'ladies' says..."We're taking Kevin out ot lunch..it's his birthday" oh FUN..."How old is he?"

Well, shoooot, the 'boy' is 34!!! BINGO!!!! I work this for 4 MONTHS before he asks me out for a 'real' date! On my birthday he called me at work (he left at 3:30, I worked til 4:30) for that night. He dumped a 22 year old for my 35 year old butt.....

In 1991 we married & with all of the ups & downs we will be married 18 years on February 15th.

This may sound crude but follow your heart NOT your VeJayJay. Also.do NOT ingore your instincts.

I was single for 14 years, now my live is a REAL life.

Long...but this is my story....

We're not engaged or married but i definitely knew he was the one when he made me forget about my ex boyfriend. My ex bf and i were dating 6 mos when we broke things off cause i went off to college. I would still talk to him and he would come visit me, and i was still into it and upset about the whole thing. Well my current bf liked me, but because i was still into my ex i was not interested. He pursued me and did not give up, he asked me out probably about 5 times before i said yes. What can i say, i was still heartbroken about the whole thing. But i decided to give it a try with Edward and i made the right choice. We can talk for hours, goof off like kids, and he always makes me feel better. I realized what i'd been missing and now we're on 3 yrs of going out. We went to the same HS so basically known each other 7 yrs but i didn't get to really KNOW him until that first yr of college when we spent so much time together. It's a funny thing cause my older brother also went to my HS, except he's 4 yrs older than me so when he left i began going there. He is now engaged and has a baby with a girl that also went to the same HS, after meeting up again yrs later. I think its a coincidence but love has a funny way of happening

Well now, here is my twisted story of love

I met the man I wanted to marry when I was in my last year of HS at 17. He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen .My first true love... We started dating and were always together everyday until one day we had a fight ...He hung up on me and didn't come pick me up that night and I will be damned if I was going to call him back. So I stayed mad , he stayed mad ...neither one would give in and neither of us would call.....So my friend set me up with someone else to take my mind of him...We went out , he proposed , I accepted and we were married a couple months later ....

Walking down the isle I wanted to turn and run back to my ex boyfriend or run anywhere for that matter , I knew in my heart I did not want to be there...I wanted to be with my ex ..I was still totally in love with him...but I was to afraid to turn and run so I married him....we were divorced by our first anniversary...I only married him because I was pissed off about my ex....great reasoning skills there huh?

Two years later I met my now dh at a party but wouldn't go on a date with him for a long time . Then we started dating, we dated for years and I turned him down three times before I was ready to marry him ( I wasn't making that mistake again !) So three kids and many years later , I'm still with him and he is still my best friend and still one of the best men I know.

But sometimes I have to admit I still wonder ..what ever happened to my first love ....we never did talk again.

So thats my story good or bad , it's mine.

I knew the day I met my husband that we would get married. I guess I never beleived in love at first sight until then

We went on our first date May 5th, and that was that. I still joke that we're on our first date because from that day on we were just together

We got engaged in November and were married the following June. It's only been three years but I still know he's the one! Except when I want to kill him but for the most part I just know!!

I also had a "love at first sight" situation. My hubby and I were high school sweethearts. We met when my "American Character" class visited his "Chemistry" class to watch their presentations about Nuclear Energy. There was a "spark" when we made eye contact and that's what started it all. We graduated from High School in 1999 and were married in the spring of 2000 after dating for 3 years. We have been married for almost 9 years now and have 2 little boys (ages 4 and 1 1/2), with one more boy on the way (due 3 days after our anniversary).

I met my husband when I was 16, sort of through a mutual friend. He got my AIM name from my friends computer and messaged me one day. He was stationed here with the AF.
When we met I was like "omg this is who I want" well after that night I didn't see him again until I was 20. He had stood me up 3 times then we never talked again. Well one lovely afternoon, I get home from work and a message pops up from him on AIM.. He wants to meet up...I was thinking oh it's payback now..I agreed to meet with him, and I was right back to being "gaga" over him again. We ended up playing cat and mouse for a year. He was a total game player, and when I finally had it with him, he straightened out.
I moved in with him, 1 month later we got the news he was being deployed, he popped the question and I said yes. After he got back and everything we got married.
On the 20th it will be 2 years, and honestly I don't even know if we will "make it" in the end...If I could go back and do things different, I would have turned him down or insisted on a longer engagement because everything I thought I knew about him was a total lie.

We have weathered more than one storm (step children, breast cancer, Lynn closed the family business and was out of work for a year), but through everything I can wholeheartedly say I still feel the same as I did that night I first saw/met him.

I too met my hubby on a blind date, but said no way will this last. That was almost 20 years ago. You just never know with LOVE

It's hard to remember exactly how I felt about my husband in the very beginning, I had been mucked about a bit before so I was wary of being too trusting.. .I trusted my instincts eventually and knew that he was a decent, caring and loving guy..the first I had ever met!...I think I knew within a couple of weeks that I wanted him around for a very long time!
We have been married 15 years in may.

I met my husband when I was a senior in high school. We had known of each other for two years before that and had never talked. My best friend and his brother were friends and they got us together. We both knew that we would get married probably about a month after being together. Now we have been together 7 years but only married about a year and a half. Its funny what love does to you, I never wanted any children before I meet him and know I can't wait to have a family.

Well, how to begin? Does anyone remember the movie in 1999 with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, "You've got mail?" For those who don't remember, it was a movie based on a time when personal computers were hot and America On-Line (AOL) was THE internet service provider to have. Well, my life, in a way emulated that movie.

I bought my first home computer in 1998. This was during a time when I was on my own after a terrible, abusive first marriage. I "worked" on healing myself for 9 yrs before I even thought about dating again. Well, of course I subscribed to AOL and began teaching myself all about the internet. I came across the personal ads and have always got a chuckle out of the things people would write about themselves in order to "woo" someone to date them. As I was reading a few I came upon this profile that sounded too good to be true. When I started reading it, this guy seemed to be speaking from the heart. You can tell the cheesy ones from the fruit-cakes. Well, little did I know this profile was speaking to my heart.

Well, to fast forward a little. It took me a month to get up the nerve to e-mail this guy, because my curiosity was getting the best of me. We began e-mailing, then IMing and after two months we decided to share phone numbers. Dh would e-mail me every night before he went to bed so that I had an e-mail waiting for me every morning. For the next 4 months, we IM'd and called each other and sent pictures, then together decided we wanted to meet. He lived 2 hours north from where I was and he was coming to see me for the first visit. We both knew before he showed up at my front door that we had feelings for each other. Seeing each other and spending the weekend together was magic!

Fast forward, we traveled back and forth to each others house on the weekends for about 6 months, then I left my job of 10 years and moved to where he was. Within the next few months we were engaged and married.

I too feel that I love my hubby more every day. We have the marriage I always dreamed about. I say that God answered my prayers from when I was a little girl. I think I found the last one of the really great men around.

sorry for the short novel

~Kathy

I loved that movie! Your story sounds so much like mine. Did you think you had lost your mind at first? My guy found me at a singles dating site 12 days after I signed up, there was no hesitating to make contact. He is 7000 miles away right now, the time difference is about 12 hours so I am getting up as he is going to bed. It is wonderful to get up in the morning and find a poem from him in my email in-box. I hope that soon I will be able to post an answer in my own thread. All I can say is that he removed his profile from the singles dating site!

Oh... I was scared to death! I even had a background check done on him Hey, I had to be sure. I thought the whole time, this is never going to work because he is going to turn out to be a jerk like my first husband or will have a huge secret that will crush me forever. He is sooo far from that. All my gf's tell me they want a husband like my honey. I am the luckiest woman ever. Good luck to you. Take it slow and I hope that you wil be as happy as my hubby and I are.
