Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() I am a member of PETA and have been for about 20 years. There are several other YT members who are members of PETA as well. Calling us loonies, nutcases - or implying that you would "punch us in the face" or "they would probably be hospitalized if I got my hands on them!" WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. When you say those things, consider that you are potentially saying them to A PERSON here. These kinds of comments are inappropriate and will not be tolerated, on any thread.

| ![]() Sorry, but if a person "freed" my dog and put them in danger, I don't care what organization they belong to, or who they are, I would hit them I am sure. I do not apologize for saying that I would either. And that is exactly what I stated. The action that this group has threatened is crazy, and "loony". Thats attacking the action and not the person.

That being said, if I was the target for some of the antics I have read about, it would be a different story and at that point I wouldn't care who was a member of what organization and who wasn't. But I realize that is probably not the way the majority of people conduct themselves. As the saying goes, a few bad apples... Last edited by BamaFan121s; 01-09-2009 at 08:15 AM. | |

I won't add a thing to it in response, I agree with *all* of it. ![]()

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I guess I would feel a little more reassured if the fans and members of PETA would speak out and say a certain action is indeed wrong, for example letting the dogs out of cages, they have done this is the past, when the cages were outside, and I wonder if their members think this is acceptable?

I *do not* support letting animals out of cages at dog shows. Nor do I support all of their campaigns. Like the general public, I think PETA members do become frustrated by some of the more alienating tactics. I think there is also a lot of frustration about the seemingly eternal misconceptions about PETA. As a member, I do let PETA know if I think they have crossed a line - and I think their members do speak out, bc PETA does respond. ------------- As I've said many times before, I understand why a lot people won't support PETA and I respect it -- I would just ask that those same people try to see the other side of the coin and respect the fact that others choose to give their support. We may be in different camps, but there is no reason that we shouldn't be able to sit around the fire and talk calmly and respectfully about our differences. ![]()

Thank you this does reassure me, I often wondered if members ever protested about some of the tactics. Until lately, I never believed very much said of PETA because those opposed were so militant and rude, so no matter what side of the fence you find yourself, respectfulness is important.

| ![]() Their request is ridiculous in my opinion. It is like saying we shouldn't air the miss america pageant because some of the contestants are african american, and african americans are prone to heart disease, so we shouldn't encourage their breeding. Or we shouldn't air the miss teen america pageant because most young women are prone to HPV, and we shouldn't encourage people to have teenage daughters. The source of the possible genetic defects is the breeding programs they come from, not the public display of the breed. And the people involved have worked hard to get to the point of Wesminster, and should be rewarded for that. On the PETA issue, I think any organization or affiliation you may be a part of will have some things you agree with and some that you don't. I consider myself a christian, but I don't always agree with things that are done in the name of the Lord. But I am not offended by the comments made against radical christians because I know it doesn't apply to me. Wylie's mom, I know you aren't a PETA activist that would do anything to harm pets or humans, so I hope you don't take offense when others get angry for radical PETA actions. We love you here at YT! ![]()
