My skin baby Alex is 11 months...He's had an ear infection now for 6 days, the antibiotics don't seem to work as I went at the doc today and it's worse, so they gave me some more stronger antibiotics... | My youngest boy had a terrible time with ear infections when he was small. It was so bad that the DR. had decided one more and he would put tubes in the ears to drain them and hopefully prevent further infections. At the office that day a nurse pulled my wife aside and told her to mix white vinegar and rubbing alcohol in even parts and put several drops in each ear three times per day. We have never had to see the DR for an ear infection since then. It also works as a preventative for swimmers ear. It seems the problem was that the eustachian tubes were too small to drain properly. Also the antibiotics are going to cause irritation to the bottom so now is a good time to start coating him with vaseline or some other protectant in anticipation.

| My oldest started with earinfections at 6 months and every few months he had one. We finally got tubes put in and they were perfect! No more infections! we use motrin or advil which seemed to work better and longer for him. Also a warm towel or heating pad or bottle to lay his ear on. Have him drink plenty of liquid but not too much milk, it creates mucus which, the ear dr had said the infection was from his sinuses draining and the ear tube was just too small and crooked to drain the fluid.

| Awww poor baby! My oldest son got ear infections with every cold. He always felt better 2 days after starting antibiotics, so not sure what to tell you there. Might try motrin if tylenol isn't working for pain. I feel so bad for you, ear infections are the worst, they don't eat and are so fussy! If he isn't better in 2 days, make sure you go back in and have it checked again. With my second son he got a vaccine (it was experimental at that time i think) that was to prevent ear infections...and he never has had one. Do they give that vaccine routinely yet? |
