Congrats on the new baby! I was blessed and never had morning sickness.

I am so bummed right now, I have been sick the last three days and we are going to Wabasha this weekend. They have their "Grumpy Old Men" festival this weekend with a pet parade etc. I will spend all my time in the room as I don't feel like being in the cold and crowds and I can't take my Yorkie to put in the parade. Wabasha is where the Gumpy Old Men movies were filmed. We go there off and on so my hubby can take photos of the eagles on the river.

BTW like I said I got the purse at a thrift store otherwise I'm sure I'd have paid ALOT more. I don't think they knew who the maker was as they tend to put higher prices on big name items when they come in. The purse was brand new and $3.99.

Im sorry you're sick. :( Maybe try taking a thermos of chicken soup. That festival sounds cool. I have been to the "Groundhog Day" in Woodstock, Il once where they filmed Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. They have it every year. :p

As far as the purse converstion, you've lost me. Im not really into that designer stuff unless you count my tinkerbell purse I got from disney world. :p

I plan to walk the festival as much as I can, I'll make due. I really wanted the irish stew from the pub, but it's a tiny place I probably won't be able to get near on this trip.

Anyone know anything about Maragret Smith handbags? I know she made floral handbags for over 50 years and closed her shop in Maine in May of 2008 but I can't find out much more than that. I bought a brand new Maragret Smith handbag yesterday, it is gray wool. I'm trying to find out about how much it's worth. I know I got a deal on it at the thrift store for $3.99! I think it was one of those deals where someone didn't like it or know the value of it and just gave it away. It was probably a Christmas gift they didn't like."

I since have found her vintage clothes and purses on eBay. But not the new purse I got. I just had a gut feeling when I picked it up to buy it, that is was a deal. I'm glad I did.

Sooo...I'm quitting my job. I've hated it since about the 2nd day of work (newness wore off quite quickly :p), but last night was pretty much my last straw with my manager. I haven't a clue on how to go about doing this though.

If you are looking for a recommendation, then be polite, and professional. Give legit reasons on quiting and do it with dignity. If you don't need a recommendation, say 'I hate this job, this place, and I dislike you with a fiery passion. I QUIT!'

Never burn any bridges, even if you don't want a recommendation from these people, your boss may know someone else you want to work for in business or outside of business.

The trip to see the eagles was great but I am still plenty sick.

Yeah, I agree. Always do the right thing and give at least 1 week notice to you're quitting. Alot of times you have to put everywhere you were previously employed for applications.

But what if you don't want to list them as an employer? Could they actually require it? As long as I don't claim to have any prior experience?

I really just don't get on well with these people, and I honestly don't think they'd help me anyway.

Some places want you to account for all your time employed or not. If you didn't work there long enough to get experience that's ok. Just remember for taxes next year even if you worked there 24 hours they still need to give you a W2.

I know when I'm hiring I look for gaps in employment history. I know when I was applying for something I can't remember if it was college or to take boards the application said in bold type not to leave out any previous employers. I dunno if they check your work history for certain government things or not.

There wouldn't really be a gap though, cause I'm 15 -- this is my first job. It's not anything monumental. and because I'm underage they haven't taken federal taxes out of my paycheck, just social security and state taxes.

This is so difficult! haha.

Oh Megan, yes you do. Never burn bridges although sometimes it's hard. Pls. keep in mind jobs are hard to find. Maybe a sit down talk with this mgr might be a difficult thing to do but you never know the stress people are under today and a heart to heart might just be the thing he needs rather than to go off upset.

I try. lol. I understand what everyone else here is saying about not burning bridges, but I'm a reckless teenager. I'm up for rebellion of any sort and since it's your first job, I don't think the job history would really matter. It's your choice in the end, sweetie. Let me know how it goes.

Random thought of the morning: Yesterday was over 70* in Iowa and in the gloomy 40's here. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....so close yet so far. We still have to much snow on the ground to be that warm and are supposed to get rain/snow tomorrow. :(

We had a tying record high of 69 yesterday. Very windy, but warmer...I took a day off work today...think I'll go for a walk with Winston...he just loves to go!!!

I am enjoying some time off and thrilled that the summer weather has arrived! Should be in the high 80s today.
I also like the fact that I get to catch up on my General Hospital. :thumbup:

I know, it's still alive. Makes me happy. And no one shall kill my thread! NEVAH! Swimming in humidity? Sounds about right. I'd appreciate 80 degree weather. Ours is like high 90's. DX I'm drowning in my own sweat here!

Oh, and I haven't watched GH in a while but there's the whole Claudia/Sonny Johnny/Olivia drama. I should really catch up.

Claudia's pregnant with Sonny's (maybe Rick's :eek:) baby. Johnny and Olivia are hooking up. Claudia keeps calling Olivia a "cougar." Awesome.

Yeah, I remember all of that. Micheal is tryin to live with Sonny, Jason's trying to find solid proof that Claudia ordered the hit, and so on and so on. I happen to like Olivia and John together! =D

K, I'm new to this thread but I just spent a good lot of time reading it and LOVE it so I'm chiming in!

From the back, when I left off on GH, Luke ad Laura had returned the second time and the song would make me cry hahaha. I had to give up the soaps with each new baby.

So, are you still on random thoughts?
Mainly I wondered today, if everyone's blood relations are as nuckin futz as mine and is Mercury in retrograde or something cuz everyone around me is asking for it!!! I guess though, if it's everyone else.....:p
