| ![]() I agree. I don't think that throwing around accusations of racism and/or stupidity is civil.

| ![]() LOL...lucky you too. ![]() I actually got a PM from someone that said they would not be back on this forum because of that thread...hopefully she will reconsider. ![]() Last edited by BamaFan121s; 11-05-2008 at 08:33 AM. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() That is very unfortunate and it is totally uncalled for that someone was hurt like that. I hope she reconsiders. But my point is, politics is a tough game. Though they shouldn't, finger pointing and name calling come with it. I wish that there could be a way that we could respectfully debate politics, because it's something I really love doing. No one should be forced to see a debate they don't want to talk about. I (and many others) want to talk about what's going on in my country, and I'd like to talk about it with people I respect - the folks on YT. The way I see it, if they have a right to NOT talk about it, don't I have a right TO talk about it? Both sides can be accomodated, IMO. ![]()

![]() I see your point though Megan, I really do. I guess there is no way to please everyone. At which point in time it becomes an issue here or anywhere else, I guess that it when members have to determine if they still wish to be members or if it is time to take a break from the forum for a while--and I think we all have a good general idea of when that would be the best. ![]()

You are right that name calling is inappropriate and VERY immature. Other than that, a civilized discussion about our nation and all the events surrounding it should be allowed and 'voilaters' who truely ARE offensive (name calling, swearing, etc...) should be warned by admin. RESPECT. That is the only rule needed when dealing with a volatile situation. RESPECT yourself and RESPECT others, its simple 3rd grade material, due onto others as you would want done onto you.

| ![]() The person being "offended" doesn't need to keep torturing themselves by coming back on the thread that is causing them to feel that way? Its like TV being offensive, turn the darn channel! But give people a chance to make the choice. I really wanted to have a healthy discussion like what was happening last night, but there is someone who will be offended or offensive, so why not just ignore the thread? |

| ![]() naw.. Im not worked up about it. I just don't like seeing how worked up other people can get over something just not worth it. Ya know? I could care less... I don't post to threads that bother me. I don't claim to be offended and NEED to say Im offended. If something did offend me I don't say anything, not worth my time. I get off the computer and do something. This place should be fun and should be a place to gain knowledge on all different types of aspects. A political thread is fun for some, not for others. So if you don't like it and its not fun for you or you have nothing to say that adds value or educates, then don't, please don't, post on it. Save yourself your temper and others your temper. I don't know... maybe I'm wrong. Honestly I could care less, I just hope someone will read this and think 'yeah I overreacted, or I need to chill out on some things or not post to others things.' Then it would be calm and respectful when politics or other hot button topics come up. I love to read others points of view. I know who I voted for. I respect those who voted the opposite. I love to hear WHY and ask questions.

If someone was insulting people from California? Or how about insulting your husband because he is military (isn't he)? Would you be willing to just "not come back on the thread?"

![]() Personally speaking for myself, I can turn the channel so to speak. I have gotten upset on a couple threads here. One of them, I almost got suspended. But I think Admin was being a bit hasty with their judgement. I am not one to cuss or belittle anyone. A debate can get heated, but can be educational at the same time. I think Admin should step in if it gets out of hand, but not for common discussion.
