| I feel for all of those members in Texas. I live in Southern Ohio and we got hurricane force winds on Sunday (in my area we had reports of 84 mph were recorded, apparently that's considered category 1 force hurricane winds). Well that little wind storm, knocked power out for over 90% of the tri-state area. We've had power on and off since that day. Most businesses and grocery stores are still closed and all of the local gas stations have run out of gas. Our electric company just sent a lot of crews down to the Texas area so they said we may not have power on in all areas for 10 days. I went to work this morning, we have power but no network access so they sent me home. This has only been 2 days and people around here are acting as if it's the end of the world. I've been reminding people that we should count our blessings that we are having nice cool weather and while we may have no power at least we have our homes and haven't experienced the devastation as those affected by Hurricane Ike in Texas and Louisiana. So again my thoughts and prayers go out to all that have been affected!

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ps...since this is a dog site - the Humane Society and Best Friends are working hard to save the animals left behind ...and there were alot. After Katrina... the state decided to let people take their pets when evacuating - but many didn't didn't or couldn't - all the animals are in shock and many probably died...but the HS is out there doing all they can. The shelters are needing help. I never in my life thought I'd see cows walking down the middle of Galveston's streets.... |

| No Longer a Member | I hear you V, This is something you would never think you would experience twice in your lifetime. I thank God for our little hotel room. We couldn't get out til after the storm, driving thru the devastation was heartbreaking. The lumber store I work for had a permanent gen brought in so we could get the supplies people need. I can't go back til there is electricity, betting they will have a minimal staff. Fema is paying for the room but no allowance like last time for food and such. Maybe it won't be much longer. |

| I haven't posted in awhile, but my family is OK. One daughter (in Channelview) has power, but two daughters (in Spring) still don't. My son (Nacogdoches) got power last Friday. We are in Sheldon (East Houston) and have not had electricity or water since the 'cane hit - 10 days. We have a generator, so night's haven't been too bad. We have/had four trees down. One took out half of our garden. Since I had foot surgery and am on crutches, I haven't been able to help Hubby clearing debris.
