| Question About Airline Tickets OK, so I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to flying (mainly because I hate it). I've flown twice and both times, someone else took care of booking the flight. I'm trying to plan a trip for Dec/Jan and have been watching ticket prices for about 3 months now. I will not be buying them until Oct/Nov. When I started watching them, the prices were around 250-300. They have gone up to 450-500 since. What is the likelyhood that prices will drop back down at all or fluctuate between now and then? I'm really unsure as to what to expect... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

| the only way airline tickets will go down is if gas does. The prices have probably been going up lately because of hurricanes and the ecomony in general. |

| I hate to fly too, I always have to take something to relax me! I'm a white knuckle flyer and feel that gripping the arm on the seat somehow helps to keep the plane up! You are asking the million dollar question when it comes to airfare! I booked tickets to Las Vegas the third week of August. I keep checking the fares every few days. I'm kind of a glutton for punishment and have to see how the fare changes. The past week or so the fare has stayed steady at about $45 more per ticket than what I paid. I just checked it after reading your email and it's gone down and is now only $5 more than what I paid per ticket. Everything I read prior to booking my tickets seemed to indicate the longer you wait to book travel for this holiday season, the higher the fares are going to be with the oil prices and that was before this last hurricane. I'm flying mid-November and I went to Vegas about the same time last year and I'm paying about $100 more this year for my ticket. If you are flexible on dates, time of day to travel and even airports and really shop around, you might have more luck!

I WISH I had been able to buy them months ago when they were lower, but I'm having to save up...don't have a spare $1000 around to drop at a moment's notice. Not for something like that anyway. | |

| Sometimes I find really cheap fares at Priceline.com Keep checking all the travel sites. Some of them have a thing you can sign up for that will email you when the prices go down on the flights you are interested in. I can't remember which site it is, I think it's either Orbitz or Travelocity. Good luck!

| Unless you live on the edge and are willing to try to book very last minute, the prices usually continue to go up. But then right before the (like within the last week) flight, prices will drop because they want to get as many people on as possible. But there's a chance the flight will be full by then and you won't be able to get on! One of these days I'm planning to just save up a bunch of money and take a week off work. And then I'm going to book SOMETHING last minute. I'll have no idea where I'm going until I book it I just want to find the best deal and go somewhere.

| If Spirit flies the rout you are looking for you might want to check them too. I've never flown Spirit but I signed up for their 'fare club' a while back and get emails with amazing deals all of the time. Seriously flights from $9.00. You have to book it within 48 hours of receiving the offer I believe. It's a crap shoot but you never know.

| Whoa! I just checked and if I wait 2 weeks longer, I would spend 600.00+ tax ver 1436.00! WOW! I may go that route--I was trying to shoot for Dec 31st so that hubby and I would miss as few days of work possible and so that the kiddo wouldn't miss any school. But that week wouldn't be so bad, I'd miss 2 days of work (and have vacation, so...) and she'd miss one day of school....hmmm... I can definately wait until last minute without it putting me in a bind. It's a trip I'm trying to surprise the family with for Christmas, but if it doesn't happen I can get them something else and they'll never know what they never had. I have signed up to get updates from a few sites. Another thing, and I'm wondering if I will have to book directly through the airline to do this....I need to have a flight where I can reserve specific seats so that we can sit together.... (Bonus would be that if I wait until mid-Jan vs over New Years, the Haunted Mansion will be reopened!) | |

| Oh is the Haunted Mansion closed now? My Daughter is 8 and she has never had to sit by herself. They usually give us 2 seats together and one elsewhere

| The DL Mansion...you know they do that NBC layover from Halloween to Christmas, but close it just after to remove everything. I am freaked to the point of being PETRIFIED of any Tim Burton animation...silly I know. There is no way in Hades I could even walk near the HM if it was decked out, much less ride it! |

This last trip I did book with Delta directly, but online. If you call them to reserve they charge you $25 more per ticket! I'm an adult and I don't like to sit by myself, lol! It's that whole white knuckled thing!

| I'd suggest booking sooner rather then later. For the most part, the sooner, the more of an increase in price.
