| Texas Vacation Its that time of year where I start looking for things to do in Texas around Christmas time. Last year we went to San Antonio. Planning is harder bc I have Sam and he goes with us. I am not opposed to leaving him at daycare but would prefer to keep him with me. So where have you been in Texas that you found to be dog friendly?

I was in HS when I went but I know the girls have not been. I was checkin that city out and I saw that the beaches are dog friendly I saw that they had an aquarium but pets are not allowed Wonder if there are any close YT'ers that might babysit for the day

| You need to order the Texas travel guide book if you dont already have it. I have one and it tells you everythign there is to do in every city in texas and I use it all the time. Im the type of person that just loves to do touristy stuff like aquariums, museums, state parks and local events too. Just google "free texas travel guide" and you should find it. I think its the official state travel website. You can also get free road map, free brochures on local events and maybe even contact them about dog-friendly places. When I ordered my book I got it in less than a week

| We lived in San Antonio (up until a couple months ago), and always enjoyed visiting Port Aransas at least two times a year, and taking both dogs. Very dog friendly. Very "beachy" and laid back. If you enjoy just bumming around on the beach like we did, it's perfect place to go especially in Fall & Winter. You'll have the whole beach to yourself especially during weekdays. We stayed at The Seaside Motel always. It's not the taj mahal, but it is close to the beach, pet friendly, and the rooms with kitchens are nice for extended stays. |

We went to Rockport a few years back - and it was just like that....we stayed in a little place with a kitchen and everything - very laid back and man - the stone crab was fantastic there ! (I'm close to Galveston but there was something about Rockport that was so much better)

I didn't check, but Kemah is pretty fun...then you have Galveston right there. DH and I went to Kemah a couple of years ago and had a great time on the Board Walk.

In Port Aransas - you can get all dirty at the beach then walk back to your room and it's ok. I even feel comfortable in Port A just walking out in my Pajamas or robe & slippers to take the doggies out to potty at night....it's just "like that" there. Whats cool is one night I took my doggies out potty in my slippers, and then the next morning I took them out again and my slipper imprints were still in the sand. I know..sounds silly, but that really impressed me. LOL!! (my slippers have a pattern of a dog on the bottom so it was easy to distinguish my tracks. "Old Friend" brand..) Gosh.... since I moved to WA State, Port A & the Seaside Motel is what I miss the most... this is the time of year we usually plan a trip there. Oh well... I guess I'll have to replace my beach trip with a mountain trip or something. LOL... I just need to find someplace here I can get all dirty & no one care. LOL!

| Hey Twalla -- heres another place in Port A that we've stayed at. LAUGHING HORSE LODGE They're VERY dog friendly, they even give you little tags with their motel on it for your dogs to wear while they're there & the rooms have bowls in them. They were very cool to stay at but they weren't really walking distance to the beach (about 5 blocks away or more), so thats why we continued to stay at Seaside Motel instead.... beach was just a few steps around the corner. |
