| I curious: Do you break down your trash? I have always torn up cardboard boxes when I've finished with the food item in which it came, eg, I will tear down the frig pack once all the cokes are used, you know, the long cardboard box that 12 cans of cokes come in so you can leave it in the frig? I cannot get my hubby to tear down anything! I think it helps to save space in the garbage bag...what do you guys think/do?

| Yes, I'm with you ... it saves space in the trash or recycling bin. My hubbie breaks things down too, even more than me. I'm guilty of putting it in the recycling bin whole "just for now" and will break it down "later" then he finds it and breaks it down and fusses at me. I just say "HEY, I WAS gonna do it later!" really, I was ... |

| We break down everything except cans. We don't use enough of them to fill the recycle container anyway.

| Yes I do. I break it all down as small as it will go and then pitch it into the recycling bin. My recycling container is about 3 times bigger then my trash container but I still flatten cartons and so forth as much as possible.

| Sometimes I do, like cereal boxes are so big, sometimes I don't. Depends if I'm cooking or what when it goes in the trash and how much time I have. Hmm my husband hardly ever. I have to put things in the trash he lays it down where ever he is...ha ha

| The trash company here won't pick up anything that doesn't fit in the big can that you roll to the road. When I moved in, I had a million moving boxes. My son and I had to flatten each one, then we used duct tape to tape them all together into "packages". It took weeks to get them all picked up along with the regular household trash. I think it's better to break everything down. I do it so that everything fits in the can better and doesn't get strewn up and down the road when things are picked up.
