The trash company here won't pick up anything that doesn't fit in the big can that you roll to the road.

When I moved in, I had a million moving boxes. My son and I had to flatten each one, then we used duct tape to tape them all together into "packages". It took weeks to get them all picked up along with the regular household trash.

I think it's better to break everything down. I do it so that everything fits in the can better and doesn't get strewn up and down the road when things are picked up.
