Parents, Please teach your kids to respect

I did some substitute teaching when i couldnt' find work adn I was just amazed at the language i heard and the behavior i saw. I was teaching 6th grade and in the middle of a social studies class a child raised his hand so i called on him and he asked me point blank "if my boobs were real or fake" i told him that's not social studies related after class I had a talk with him adn he said so and so told him to and told him so and so not in trouble. I didn't know what else to do so i told the teacher next door and he sent him to the office. This kid was a preachers kid and when his mom found out she made him right a 3 page paper with sources on sexual harrasment. I read the paper and it made me sad because he was a great writer and obviously very bright and that what makes me so scared about having kids. because i could do a good job with my kids but then they get in this atmosphere and want to fit in and what to be liked and think this is the way. To make rude comments or misbehave. When i was in school the popular kids were the smart kids, the athletes they were respectful from good homes. Now the kids that are popular are the ones that are disrespectful and misbehave. How do you deal with that as a parent? The bad kids are the minority anymore they now seem to be majority or at the very least half.

I can't beleive how disrespectful kids are today. I never in a million years EVER would have been like that. (I'm only 28, but compared to now that seems like forver.) My kids are not like that and will not be!! They know better, they have been on the receiving end of kids like those and they don't like the way it made them feel. I know there are some bad ones out there but keep your chin up because there are some good ones too.

All this is so true, and so Frightening!
I work at a Auto Body shop,,and these 16 year old kids are of course always crashing,,,their NEW cars,,, bmws. Hondas,, You know better cars than I EVER had at that age,,, anyhow,, They come to get there cars,, and mom or dad is there, TOO PAY- THE DEDUCTIBLES 250-500-1000.00 whatever it is,, and you know damn well they dont pay it back or most dont even have a job... But, there is NO thanks,,no appreciation,, JUSt " where are the keys?" It blows my mind. Occasionally ,I see a kid have to pay,,and I always comment on how unusual that is.

my 18 yr old brother has a infinity g35 . yes, he does havta pay for everything un\less it isnt really his fault. he loves his car , he used his own money to buy; tinting (looks gorgeous), sound system, a scratch from grtting keyed and he payed to fix his AC. for the sound system he knows this place in a little alley lol hes a teenage, he doesnt work, he needs it cheap. but they are very good o he also got the AC fixed there because they are the ones who busted it while putting in the sound system. i can tell you this, i better get a nice car when i can drive

That's awful. They were disrespectful to you and Recon and you were nice enough to apologize to them. Good for you for telling the cops. I would have followed them home and mentioned the incidence to their parents. (assuming they would even care)

I grew up in a wonderful house- I really love and respect my mom, and when I was growing up I didn't do those kinds of things because I knew she would have been disappointed in me. My mom wasn't really strict, but I knew her expectations and that she was the boss. My favorite show is Super Nanny because these households are complete pandamonium until Jo gets there- with the kids running the show. It's amazing (and sometimes sickening) to see how little some parents are doing these days.

He gets me more then that, i do post the stuff that aggravates me, but he really does understand how much i have to deal with on a daily basis. We have been together for so long and he has watched my struggles in school trying to get my credential and knows that these kids aer important to me . (he really is nicer then i let on...... i just need to vent sometimes) and that line has been used for many years now and it has become more of an anoying joke then anything else... he doesnt really have that attitude about teachers, but others would even go so far as to call us "overpaid babysitters" (i wanted to punch the guy that said this one)........
