Olympics!!!!!!! The opening ceremonies are on live right now on CBC (Canadian Broadcast Channel) - they always have much better coverage than our American networks do. The parade of Nationas is currently arriving. This is my favorite part of the Opening ceremonies!!! I love to see what the countries are wearing and it warms my heart to see all the nations together in peace in one venue!!!!! I am so excited for the swimming events and am looking forward to many world records, to see Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff make history and to cheer on the "old lady" Dara Torres!!!! I also lolve watching diving, gymnastics and track and field. If you happen to see the trampoline events, it is awesome!!!!!! Those are my favorites, but I like to watch them all. Also, check out this link to the Olympic Gardens made especially for the event - you won't be sorry...... Olympic Gardens What are you looking forward to watching???? |
I love every bit of it and can't wait for TONIGHT:) |
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited about Olympics, you don't even know!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for tonight :D:D:D:D And gymnastics, of course!!! Rarely is gymnastics ever on television :( except once every four years at the Olympics, and it's my favorite sport to watch!! I've already got everything I can being DVR'ed LOL!! I'm also excited for swimming, diving, sync swimming, and soooo much more!! WOOT WOOT!! Don't know when the first gymnastics event is but I cannot wait! |
It's scheduled for my TIVO tonight as we won't be home..:( I wish we got the Canadian channel but we don't....not even on our cable. I heard it's going to be gorgeous and so different so I can't wait to watch! I love the parade of athletes and love to see what they are wearing and who designed them!!:D:D:D |
LOVE swimming events- diving especially. Also really like rowing and track events!! |
I think I like gymnastics best and although I never paid that much attention to basketball in the Olympics before, I WILL this year with LeBron playing. Here's to alot of GOLD for the USA!!! |
I am so excited! I have been looking forward to them starting for months now. :D I love the Olymics...3 weeks of not having to worry about finding something to watch on TV! :p |
Oops...didn't have time to finish typing. I like watching gymnastics, swimming and diving. In that order. I like watching the equestrian events, but they rarely have them on to watch. I like track and field, but only some of them...I don't like the wierd stuff like discus and javoline and I don't like watching people run 5 miles around and around, but I like the shorter races. (Seems like the majority of the track team is from the Univ of Oregon! Those ducks do alot of running apparently.) Hubby likes to watch the Basketball, go figure. Speaking of which, I'm I the only one slightly...bothered, for lack of better term...by the fact that people who play here on US teams go back to their home countries to play for the Olymipcs? Anyone have any friends or relatives going to compete? |
The torch lighting was awesome (a little drawn out, but cool nonetheless) and the torch is really neat!!! |
Diving and wrestling |
I like to watch gymnastics, diving and the swimming events. I like the winter Olympics better because of the figure skating. |
I forgot another one I like 'hockey' |
Did anyone notice during the parade of nations, they cut to George W and he was looking oh so bored checking his watch. :p |
I love the Olympics. I like gymnastics, diving, swimming and track and field. The President certainly did not look too bored today flanked by two gorgeous women in bikinis (beach volleyball). He was having a great time!!! Opening ceremonies were awsome. |
I think the open ing ceremonies were fantastic. 2008 people in total unison on the drums. Too great for words. Let's go GOLD for the USA!!!! |

I can't believe Phelps (totally awesome) and just the fact that Dana T is still kicking butt at her age blows my mind - - I'm not crazy about that new space age suit though - i think they should ALL wear the same standard speedos. And a tribute to The Lost Boy - what a story he has to tell....gives me chills to see him in front of the camera There's amazing athletes this year ..... |

The opening ceremony was fabulous! I like the swimming events and gymnastics |
The 'Lost Boy' story was so moving and to think that little peanut is 9 yrs old. Of course when you consider his bravery and all he did he seems even more mature than his age. I missed the US marching in but I did see what they wore and a couple of the contenders. China had a right to be proud last night and I'll tell those Italians, Australians and Americans sure have a good time!!:) |
I watched womens V.B. today. Misty May and Kerry Walsh have won 101 games straight and every game in 2008. No wonder Pres. Bush had his arms around them, they are sure gold for the U.S. Men's gymnastics was great tonight. |
I am a total Olympics junkie, so I was actually glad when they started splitting the summer and winter games up--I only have to wait two years for Olympics!! I will watch pretty much anything, but I love beach volleyball, swimming, and gymnastics. My favorite olympic sport is a winter one: short track speedskating. There are also 18 former/current Texas Longhorns in Beijing, so I'm hoping they represent my alma mater well :) |

You both must be so happy (since you are swimmers) that Michael Phelps won another GOLD!! He is something else. |

I'm still in love with Mark Spitz - but would love to see Phelps break that record for the most gold (I used to have a life size poster of Spitz in 'nothin but a speedo' on my bedroom door - my mom seemed to find ALL SORTS of reasons to come into my room after I got that poster lol) |

The Opening Ceremonies were, to say the least, SPECTACULAR. I actually cannot blame President Bush for getting caught watch-watching. Two+ hours of any parade would be difficult to keep up enthusiasm every minute just in case we were caught on camera. I'm a VB fan :), but missed what happened about the attack. Can someone fill me in, please? Thanks! GO FOR THE GOLD....USA USA! |

The gymnastics has been very impressive and it's only qualifying!!!!! Women's synchronized springboard diving was awesome, too. What a crazy sport - take something really hard to begin with and then add synchronizing it with another person of the same ability!!!!!!!!!!! And the pool has met expectations so far as well! I'm loving every second of it!!!! |

I haven't had a chance to see the actual event - I wonder what the Degree of Difficulty numbers are for them compared to a single diver ...does it go up if there are 2 divers or stay the same ? |
