OK...WHO JUST SAW PHELPS???? He just won again!!!!! Cavics almost beat him!! That was a good race

Iseen so many girls in the Chinese team not stick it,lose their balance and still not get as many deductions?! I wanted to scream! And... I'm sorry some of those girls look at least 13 yrs old!? They had some competition last year and one of their coaches gave a brief interview saying how proud he was of so and so and saying how good she was for only being 13... and she's here the following year in this year's Olympics? They said all they need to prove age is the passport so everything checked out and they wont investigate any further....

Oooh well ...just had to vent lol

Glad to know I'm not alone in how hard this was to watch. With Shawn being my hometown girl it has been so hard - because for 6 mths at least the newspapers, tv stations, and commercials have called her Iowa's Golden Girl - what if she doesn't get any gold - praying this isn't true - because she did place 1st in 2 events last night.

But the scoring is so off :mad: - - even when Shawn started her beam routine last night the commentators were saying it seemed the judges didn't like Shawn's style, her body type - they don't like the power tumbler; they seem to only appreciate the long, dancer style tumbler. I don't understand why there isn't room for both :confused: - I can appreciate both styles. It was crazy to see Shawn & Nastia's routines get devalued and points knocked off, when this didn't happen for the Chinese. :mad:

The age - oh, don't get me started. The Gold medal in the team event should be stripped from China and given to the US. If you want to see something right on and funny about this, watch what one of our local sports commentators had to say about this last night WHO TV - Des Moines: Search

This guy is truly unbelievable!! He was behind and made up that time to 1/100 of a second win over Cavics.

I loved how they showed the end in slow motion a couple of times!!!:thumbup:

Yes he did. I was thinking he didn't touch first at first. I keep telling my hubby that! Then they showed it in slow mo and it was amazing how he snuck right in there and touched first. :eek: They were saying that it is an "electronic touch pad" and He DID touch first.

Yes, I'm so glad they showed it in slow motion. What can you say about that guy except he must be super human. What an exciting race, I was screaming here.

yea he did, it didnt look like it cause Cavics arms were already aiming to touch but then Phelps quickly pushed his long arms so fast and touched it right before cavics.

Wasn't that fantastic? I was standing in front of the tv jumping up and down like a teen. And that Dara Torres is amazing also but she has a lot of trainers, therapists etc. I saw that earlier today.

I saw that this morning too - she employees 8 people to keep her in shape - wow amazing. Wondering if she has a housekeeper and cook too - because I don't know how she could have time with her daughter and train too. Probably a nanny also - how does she pay for all of this??

I thought of that to but she or hubby must be bringing in some big bucks or a rich daddy. Did you hear her say that she swam after giving birth on the same day? I'm a swimmer and it couldn't have been many strokes. Sounds like she's obsessed with winning but like you, I'm pulling for her.

I thought Torres looked great! She has beauty & talent! I can't say enought about Phelps. WOW!! Tonight was so exciting, the babies were wondering what all the rukus was about!!:p:p We're also babysitting my step daughter's yorkie. They were getting excited too from all the cheering!!:D:cheer::cheer::cheer:

I think that in a finish like the one Phelps had you truly have to rely on the results according to the electronic touch pad that they have implemented. Trying to judge something that close, separated by the smallest fraction of a second is simply impossible to do with the human eye.

And how is it that as much as I've watched the Olympics I have yet to see Torres swim? :confused: How on Earth do I keep missing her!? :(

Phelps just did what no other person in the 112 yr history of the Olympis could do. U.S. A. WOO HOO. That relay was the most exciting event that I have seen so far. His Dad has to be seeing this somewhere!

Did you see the interview of Phelps w/his Mom? My eyes teared up....so touching. What an amazing young man! I admire his Mom too....she helped him get there. She was a single Mom w/3 kids. Michael had ADHD as a kid that his Mom recognized early on. She said the pool having perimeters helped Michael temendously & children w/ADHD are very pationate, gifted children (so true)! He said he is very visual & can remember things that way. He was bullied alot as a kid. It made him that much stronger. He is extrememly competitive, but he has a wonderul grounded outlook on life. I just have so much admiration for this young man.:thumbup: My nephew also has struggled w/ADHD.:usaheart::usaheart:

I wish I had seen this, darn it. Maybe I can find it on the web. He's so amazing and although I love Mark Spitz, it was time for his record to be broken. And the guy gets better looking the older he gets. :)

How about the wonderful job the judges did on scoring ladies Vault last night?:rolleyes:

The Chinese girl messed up on the second vault AND fell on the landing and still managed to beat the US.:rolleyes::rolleyes::mad:

OMG...don't even get me started on that! That is insane. She fell outright, down to her knees, with her hands on the mat and STILL managed to medal! :mad:

They talked to Karoli about it and he was mad! So mad he started crying! I know I'm a little biased and want to see the US win everything possible, but the scoring is NOT FAIR. It hasn't been for the whole competition so far. With the exception of the floor routines last night, I DO agree with those. I guess you can only get by w/ hiding so much...

As much as I love the Olympics, I\'ll be glad when they\'re over. I don\'t know how many more late nights I can handle! I\'m so addicted! And now I\'m having to go in to work early, so that makes it worse!:eek:
