Donating YT Addict | I'm reading "Generation Kill" by Evan Wright. He is a Rolling Stone reporter who was imbedded with the Ist Recon Marine Division during the early stages of the Iraq War. Heavy stuff but really really interesting. It's all first hand accounts of the battles and what the Marines went through personally. Gives me a whole new respect and admiration for the Marines. I hear HBO has just started to air a mini series based on the book but I don't have HBO.

| I am addicted to the printed word,so I'm loving this thread. If you want to laugh out loud, I have to recommend Jen Lancaster! She is hilarious! She writes about her life after the fall of the dot com era. So far she has written three memoirs. They are: "Bitter is the new black" "Bright lights big a$$" and "Such a pretty fat" She is the best author I have came across in a long time. If you want to get an idea of her and her work, check out her blog site at Jennsylvania.com Whenever I'm having a bad day I log on to her site or reread one of her books. I'm soon feeling better and laughing myself into an asthma attack I am currently reading: "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" by Beth Harbison and "How I write;Secrets of a bestselling author" by Janet Evanovich (because someday, I myself hope to be a bestselling author )

| Oh, ya'll are making me feel pitiful. So many of you are reading something "good for you". I like plain ol' fiction! haha Right now I'm reading James Patterson's "Step on a Crack". It's the first one he's written (I think) involving a new character named Michael Bennett - a NY cop with a wife dying of cancer and 10 adopted children to take care of on top of his cop duties. The wife and children are just kind of in the background of everything but they make him a very interesting character. It's been very interesting so far!

My all time favorite authors are Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Although Stephen King has kinda lost his appeal with me over the past few years - I still read them as soon as they come out. Dean Koontz (to me) is very similar to SK, just not as "strange".

| I just mentioned this author in my above post but I also loved the Alex Cross novels. Now he's starting some with a Michael Bennett character. He's a very interesting character.

| Just thought of another thing. I also think that James Patterson is really easy to get hooked on and I had this thought as I was reading a couple chapters at lunch today..... I think the reason they are so hard to put down is the short chapters. Does that sound weird? It just seems like the chapters are short and chock-full of stuff but he doesn't ramble so much like some authors. I keep saying... one more chapter, one more chapter but each new chapter sucks me in - maybe because I know it will be short and interesting - but then before I know it, I've blown through way more chapters than I had intended.

| Whoever recommended "Water for Elephants" did me a favor. I loved it! I have just finished ready Jonathan Kellerman's book titled "Obsession" It is an Alex Delaware book if you know about Kellerman. Alex is a child psychologist that does consulting for the police department and partners with a wonderful character Milo. Milo is a gay police lieutenant and is about as far away from stereotypical as you can get. I never read one book at a time so I've been re-reading the Vampire Chronicles. I can't get enough of those blood suckers! |

| I remember seeing this recommendation a while back too. I checked it out from our library (I work at A&M) but before I could get to it (because I was in the middle of something else) someone else recalled it so I had to return it. I had actually just started it when that happened so I made sure to make note of what page I was on and plan on checking it out again soon. It must be a very popular read because when I tried to check it out recently, all copies were out and I didn't want to be mean to someone else and recall it (like they so nicely did to me!). Can't wait to read that one.

| I also love these authors. I'm waiting for Nora Roberts' The Pagan Stone, the third in the trilogy of The Sign of Seven. It doesn't come out until December. But I like any good-feeling book; nothing too serious. I work in court all day.
