I am really MAD at America's Greatest Dog!!

Well i guess i didn't see it like you guys did. The way I understood her is that they were judging grooming at that time so she shouldn't put clothes on her. I didn't take it as they should NEVER dress dogs. I only put shirts/sweaters on my boys when it's really cold outside so maybe thats why I wasn't so offended. I thought it was just in that particular competition, she should be naked so they can judge grooming. But it got ugly after that, didn't it?

Oooh I'm glad I didnt watch it! lol I would love them to see the clothes I've made and bought for our 3 dogs! lol Cookie ,my 4 yr old LOVES getting dressed! He runs to me and starts running in circles and jumping,he runs and pushes his little head through the neck of the shirt! lol

Does that sound like a dog who hates clothes? lol I dont think that all dogs look great in clothes.I mean the really big dogs like Labradors or German Shepards. But in the end ,it's the owner's business. As long as it causes no stress/harm to the pet...

That was the first comment that was made, that how can they judge her on her grooming when her dog was wearing clothes. If it would've stopped at that it would've been fine. I don't think anyone would've had a problem with it. But then Wendy Diamond went on to say "a dog is a dog, not a Barbie!" And Victoria Stillwell said dogs shouldn't wear clothing because other dogs won't be albe to read body signals. Whatever!!! The best body signal is the eyes and face, you can tell alot by reading a dogs eyes, and their tail still shows. Yes, you can't see the hair standing on their back, but that is not the only signal when a dog is about to attack, their are plenty of others. And a friendly dog will do a whole body wagging, which you can definitely see regardless of what they are wearing.

I totally agree with you! I watched it last night and I was furious that the male judge that is an editor at large for Dog Fancy and Dog World said that dog's are already born with fur, they don't need clothes...and then the other judge that said" A dog is not a Barbie Doll." I dress my dogs, and it doesn't matter if you dress or dog or not, what should matter is that you love and care for your dogs. If Bella was miserable in that outfit, I would of understood...but Bella enjoys clothes. Watch..she won't dress her dog next week because of those judges making her feel like crap about it. I might write in to Dog Fancy and complain about that editor when I watch it again!

OMG...I just went to Dog & Puppy Information: Dog Care, Dog Nutrition, Dog Health, & Product Resource Center and that editor is on there and right underneath his picture is a dog in a hoodie. I'm writing him and telling him what I think...

That will make me so sad. I looked forward to seeing what Bella was wearing Kindof like seeing what the celebs wear on the red carpet

I watched and it didn't bother me at all. I really think that the comment was made in that particular context and for that type of a show when you are competing with dogs of all sizes and breeds (most that aren't small, dress wearing dogs), perhaps it's not a good idea to cover up the body, especially when part of the judging is on grooming.

As others have already stated, if the comments were only about not being able to judge grooming we all would have understood. However, the comments made went way beyond that and were unneccessary. One judge said "dogs already have a fur coat."....first of all, not the type of dog Bella is (she would have a single coat) and second of all..it had nothing to do with that. And the one that really got me was "A dog is not a Barbie doll. A dog is a dog." In no way is dressing your dog treating it like a barbie doll...it's no different than dressing your human child. These dogs are our children and if we want to dress them and the dogs don't mind it, it's noone's business and no one has the right to say anything negative about it. If they don't want to dress their dogs then that's their right, but we also have the right to dress our dogs without ignorant criticism.

I totally thought the same thing. And last week when they picked on Bella, I thought it was because of the clothes thing too. Bella seemed pretty smart to me, and I don't think she deserved to be in the bottom 3--especially when Beacon and his really dumb owner (sorry if she has any fans) who clearly does not have him well trained keeps getting to stay.

I felt the same way...I was surprised when I saw how upset everyone got. It hadn't even occured to me.

There were told to come to the dinner party in "appropriate attire" synonyms for attire include: clothing, clothes, dress, outfits, garments, apparel, and fashion to name a few. Beth and Bella were set up. Lots of people can't stand "diva" dogs and that's ok, but I believe the showed played up to that, and the attitude "real dogs don't wear clothes." Furthermore, do people have to be naked in order to see if they are groomed; well neither do dogs, after all it wasn't a grooming competition in the sense that the owners did the haircuts, so why the need to see the full body, except to single her out. They could have told her before hand, "No clothes, we need to see the dog's haircut."

Then, when Bella's owner said that Star and Tillman had a scarf and a bow tie, one of the judges said "Well, that's around the neck where a collar would be." The judges were being really rude about Bella's dress. My mom and I have Tivo, and we would stop...rewind and hit play to make sure we heard what their comments where twice.

C'mon girls! Would you go to a haircut contest with your head covered and expect to be judge when you are wearing a baseball cap or a hat?
