Sorry the baby is missing. Since the pigeon is not domesticated often in the US I am a little confused. It appeared that the pigeons were in a cage from your pictures. Were they inside or outside? Did you just provide a cage outside for them to nest? I saw some shavings and millet.
It sounds like the pigeons come and go as they please?? If so that is really neat. Also would explain the orphaned egg

Nope they are caged up outside and are domesticated pigeons. we can not let them have free roam of garden or anything coz if they dont come back they wont survive. usually they come in the house to have a fly around but since they layed the eggs we havent done this coz they have to sit the eggs. we have a german shepherd dog crate so what we have decided to do before the other 2 eggs hatch is bring them both in with the eggs and untill the babies are big enough will live in the outhouse. we are guessing we might have aquired a mouse because the pigeons wouldnt have harmed the baby and if it was a rat the eggs would be gone to but it is still a mystery as to how the mouse got into the nest coz it was hard enough for us to get close to it without being attacked. The shavings and millet is because the shavings is to keep the egg safe and warm (with them being outside) and they eat the millet and decided they wanted it in the nest i will take a pic of their cage so you can see what i mean and post it later x

that is neat. I just had the old carrier pigeon thing going on in my head and thought they come and go as they please..lol
Of course I have only had a half of a cup of coffee too...lololol

I guess another bird couldn't get inside the cage? I know wild birds will rob other nests and eat the babies.

Nope the only thing small enough to get in is a mouse so we are now sitting here trying to figure out the best way to house them indoors while they have babies. So baby Izzy is just one of those things now i guess but at least we got pics and we can learn from little Izzy's demise and hope the other 2 will be safe.

Maybe you could put out a baited mouse trap and catch him before the others hatch. I would think readily accessible food would appeal to him more than venturing inside the pigeon coop.

Stupid mouse.

I'm so sorry your little one has dissappeared. That's so sad

. Is is possible it could have wiggeled itself to the edge and fallen out?

right we have it figured out the pigeons are coming in and the mouse trap is going into the nest so when he comes back hoping the other eggs have hatched we will get it! Dont like killing animals but we are in a residential area and they are too smart for a humane trap. and there is no way at 2 days old the baby could have gotton out of the nest the ledge is too high (the nest is a converted dog kennel) we have looked at it fro all possible angles and the only thing it could be is a mouse.
