NYC is wonderful and lots of dog friendly neighborhoods...the cost is def more than elsewhere as far as transportation (taxis), dining, pet couture, treats, hotel stay...etc.. It's honestly never ending. I'm sure that'll affect a lot of people's decisions on attending or not.

If this event is held on the west coast, I would definitely have to think about how long Bella can stay cooped up in a bag for most of the day.

I think It would be great to take over a camp ground......

One that has Cabins for those that don't like to Tent camp and also

electric for the ones who need it.

I think that would make it FUN and more affordable for more people.

I think the cost is what held many from attending the KC one.

I agree 100%. I would love to have a relaxed meetup with lots and lots of time to just sit and visit. With a lot of activities going on, places to go and things to do, people just don't "visit" as much. If I am going to come to a meetup I want to have time to meet and get to know as many of my beloved YT members as possible.

i agree that we need to be in a venue that will allow for alot of together time to just sit and "shut the breeze"....but i have a problem with the camping idea ...and the problem is this................some people are getting "up" in age ....now notice i didnt say that nasty three letter word...but camping can be hard on the best healthy wise people...and some couldnt come if they didnt have refrigeration(ie...meds) and such.....and lets face it camping is fun but it can be a little uncomfortable..........JMO ..but i think it would be best to have it in a place that we could be close to a big park with possibly a pavillion (for possibly a monster cookout)and all stay at the same hotel with access to a huge room that all can enjoy......you can still have activities...just not so many as to take up most of the time......again JMO

Ok, I just checked. 5-6 hours. I checked Orlando to SF.

And you always have a layover. So you'll be able to let your baby out for a break =D

no offense to anyone who lives in San Diego....but if it is there i surely wont be comeing...oldest daughter and i were there 3 years ago...and i was not impressed at all...it is hard to find your way around and very very expensive...so that would def. be a no for me....sorry....

I was actually thinking the same thing. My vote is for Texas - doesn't matter which city: Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin...I would do any of them.

To me, it hasn't been tooooo hot yet this year. I mean, yes we've had some hot days, but it doesn't REALLY start getting hot until July/August. SO I think that if we had it early June or even in May, Texas would be fine heat-wise. And like Shana said, we usually have a great turnout when we do our local meetups. At the last one, we had around 30 people, I think, and even more Yorkies! And some of the people drove an hour or more to get to the park. So I think there'd be a great turnout.

I DO like Lori's thinking of a campground..... and for people that don't camp, there are places that have really nice chalets that can be gotten also. (Which would be nice for people who want a kitchen, living area, private bath, etc.) I don't know of any here...... but they do have them in Gatlinburg.........
how about it Coast dwelling peeps??????......... does anyone know of anywhere that has something like this??? It would satisfy the "campers" and the "not so primitives"........

I know that Houston has a major airport (Bush) which I think is a hub for Continental Airlines. The other airport, Hobby, is a hub for Southwest Airlines.

That was my thought about the East Coast. Alphy will NOT do a bag, I don't think I could fly anywhere with him. No big of a deal. Sound like most folks want it on that side, I'm betting tons of folks will go.

I feel this way about New York (no offense - just not my best experience)

bottom line if everyone hasn't already noticed not everyone will be happy because you can't please everyone. There needs to be a happy medium. What that is, I have no idea and I don't envy the person or people who take this on.

Maybe we should plan a West Coast event and an East Coast event, make them on separate days so those that can afford to can have the option to go to both if they want. Or an annual West Coast Event, an East Coast event and then one somewhere in the middle. ??? But that's like too many events and the $$ adds up. ?? Just trying to brainstorm ideas.
