| LSAT Law School, etc Anyone take the LSAT? How did you do? Where did you go to Law School? Any tips for me on taking the test? I'm reading for it now - taking practice tests and such. I am definitely NOT taking Kaplan or any of those other preparation things, as I have heard they really screw with your head. Any words of wisdom would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

| Ahhh law school. I will be begining my third and last year in about 2 weeks at Seattle University School of Law... I took the LSAT way back in 2002 (I guess that is not that long ago), I got a 170 (not too shabby) and all I did to prepare was read the Kaplan study book and take a lot of practice tests. The most important thing is time management. Ration your time carefully and do not, do not spend too much time on any one question or set of questions especially in the logic games section. If a set of questions is not flowing for you move on!!! Give yourself like 30 seconds close to the end in case you have not completed all the questions and fill all your blanks in with a single letter, you are not penalized for wrong answers. Oh and on the writing section do not try to sound like a lawyer, that always comes off really badly!!! Oh yes and be prepared enough to only take it once, they average the scores if you take it more than once so it is pointless. As for applying to law schools, do not even bother with schools that are not ranked in the top 100! Most major firms do not conduct interviews at them, and most mid-size firms will not hire you either if you graduate from them! Post graduation recruiting is like 3 a.m. at a bar anyway, all the attractive firms are taken so the undesirables all start to convince themselves that each other are desirable! I would be happy to answer any other questions you have! |

I just went through the registering process. I can't even take it at my own University. I have to go out the 'burbs (ew!) because my testing site is already full for October! I wish I were in my own, comfortable environment.

(1) SU: I chose this school because my boyfriend of many years (now my ex of a couple months) had been attending it, and I was an undergrad there so I was awarded nearly a full ride. Probably not the smartest decision I have ever made considering the other school I was accepted to is a lot better... (2) UW: rejected me despite the fact a number (quite a large # actually) were admitted with lower LSATs and GPAs, something about wanting geographical diversity. (3) UC Berkely: accepted and should have gone, spank myself everyday I walk into my school... (4) Stanford: waitlisted so basically rejected. It was emotional and financial stuff that made me select my school, which I am pretty happy with, but selecting a law school really should be more a logical exercise. | |

| Hey Kristy! I took the LSAT's 2 years ago and got a 170. I decided to pursue grad school instead of law school. I'm still thinking of going though. To prepare I did what has already been said, read, took a lot of practice tests. It really wasn't a bad experience at all. Good luck Kimberly~ |

| Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I have a question about the LSAC. I had no idea I have to enroll in this to apply at any school approved by the ABA. Jesus, they have already taken all of my money!!!! and I haven't even been accepted anywhere yet! Luckily I was reading http://www.gwu.edu and was informed they don't accept apps from anyone but the LSAC... sigh...

First of all, good luck on the LSATs. I've been prepping for them too by reading the books. One of the dumbest people that I know made a 160 by reading those books, so I have complete faith in you! My best friend just entered into law school this year, and he said the LSAC was completely worth it because it does all of the work for you. You don't have to worry about it getting there on time, because it does it for you and stuff like that. He said it was really convenient. But it sucks because it's expensive, and that in addition to app fees and test fees can get really pricey really fast. I want to go to George Washington so bad I can't stand it! I know I don't have the GPA to get in though The campus is really weird though. Have you ever been there? It's across the street from the Watergate! Maybe it's just not something I'm used to living in Oklahoma, but it's in a very urban area, right by the capital. No trees or grass, just streets and sidewalks. I'm too rural

| OMG Rosie I just want to reach through the computer and hug you. YOU ARE MY TWIN! I can taste GW in my mouth I want it so bad. LOL! You'd better still apply there. I wear my GW sweatshirt 24/7 in the fall and winter. I wanted to buy a GW Law sticker to put on my car just for wishful thinking I DLed some prep questions and explanations from the LSAC.org site. When are you taking the test? My GPA sucks, too, but my resume is really good (sorry if I sound like I'm bragging). Yes, I have been there twice. I think its absolutely beautiful. The archetecture is amazing. I'm a city girl, so the lack of trees didn't really phase me at all. I didn't even notice to be honest
