| I tend to do this too and lately I've stopped watching the news so much and it has helped. After all, we can't solve the world's problems no matter how much we worry. I also think the news media tends to sensationilize things for ratings. I'm so thankful to be an American and have the opportunity to choose our leaders but I'm so sick of all the political bashings.

| I use to be a worry wart about stuff like this, but then I realized there is nothing I can do to change it or preven it, so I stopped worrying.

| I had to limit my news watching for this very reason. I'd become depressed and scared all the time, then I realized it was because I was watching or reading the news ALL the time.

| I'm starting to get this way too, the news is so depressing. The economy, the storms, the deaths.... everything seems to be getting worse not better. I remember when I used to watch The Simpsons instead of the World News. Maybe I should go back to doing that.... but then theres the part of me thats "just gotta know!" whats going on in the world. I think we all need a group hug. I'm down today too, thats why your post caught my eye. |

| I'm sorry these things are getting you down. I RARELY have the news on....It's not that I don't care what is happening, there is just so much that a person can hear and take in. I find that if I exercise, yoga, have some quiet alone time (to pray, read, or just whatever)...or spend a day cuddling w/ Mojo and LG....that seems to take my mind off of all the negatives in my life!

| If you check back since the begining of the world till now, you will find out that we are actually living in a better world disaster wise than ever before. The one thing we do need to clean up and that's the quality of our air before global warming does even more harm than what we are witnessing now. We "can" clean things up, but how many are actually doing anything? There have always been and always will be wars, floods and fathom. |

| Mizzwand, you are not going to believe...this afternoon, I wrote a big long post on your thread and just as I was getting ready to send it, lightning hit and knocked our electric off! I am sorry that you are feeling down. I know exactly how you feel too. My mom always tells me not to watch the news all the time, but I am just used to having it on in the background. There does seem like there has just been so much with natural disasters. I sometimes wonder though with world wide coverage news and the internet, if we are seeing so much more than we ever did. Maybe a lot of things went on in the past too, but we never knew about them. I try to just balance things out, help when I can, and try to enjoy all that I have...imbibe the good things. It truly makes you appreciate how lucky we are when we see how quickly things can change.

prices of EVERYTHING are getting so high people can't even afford to drive or buy food here in OUR country - we have horrible crime - people shooting each other all over the place - job cuts - heat waves - flooding - storms - man it's endless .... Then you see other parts of the world getting hit with massive earthquakes - typhoons - tsunami's when I get down I remember it could be worse but I really fear for our kids futures - if the economy and scary weather keeps up like this - who knows what they'll go thru sorry to sound so depressing but we need CHANGE - we can't control the weather but we sure can control other things and that doesn't seem to be happening. | |
