| Eating Raw Vegies My daughter was just telling me she was craving some raw vegies, but didn't want PB or ranch w/ them....is there another "healthier" dip to go w/ celery and carrots, etc. She is wanting to have some healthy snacks.....and some that she can take on the road (to avoid fast food stops), etc. as we have been busy lately w/ volleyball camps and clinics and other things..... THANKS!!!

| How about hummus? I make the very best hummus- much better than store bought (if I do say so myself). I don't make it too often because if it's in the house I pig out on it.

| Try using plain yogurt and just a little mayo, for the richness, and making dip. A lot of the time, you can't even tell that it is not sour cream. I use it on my baked potatoes, potato salad, pasta salads, etc.

| The secret to me is to whip the tahini first. It makes the hummus fluffy. I make mine in the food processor but my daughter uses the stick blender. Either way, here is mine: 1/3 c tahini 1/3 c lemon juice Whip together until really light and fluffy. Add a ton of garlic, sesame oil, some salt and a can of chic peas (rinsed and drained) and blend together. Add the chic peas slowly, you might not use them all. I like a lot of sesame oil but it is optional.

| It's basically chicpeas and sesame paste (tahini). Kind of a bean dip I guess.

| Well some very weird people I know don't like garlic so I imagine those people would think it was discusting! You know there are probably people who missed that thread and now think we are really stupid spellers.
