| I had a super childhood, best family I could ask for, raised in the military, taught manners, spoiled rotten, but along with many of the sayings already mentioned, I remember hearing "Wait till your Father gets home!" -- alot .

| Heck, I WAS always in trouble. I really hated it when they planned on getting you. I was a runner. If I knew it was coming I could outrun them all. We had screen doors and they would latch them before you knew it was coming. I hated running into that latched door full force. LOL |

| OMG, Did we come from the same family, I heard the same thing from my mother all the time, and thank god for my father, he was our protector, he never raised a hand or his voice to us as long as I remembered!

| Mom used alot of the ones already listed above. Sometimes when she got angry I would smile even though I was in trouble.. i wasn't being disrespectful, but i just smile when i'm uncomfortable. And she would say you better wipe that smile off your face or i'll wipe it off for you.. but she never actually hit me in the face. i did get butt whipped on occassion though. |

She also got mad when I tried to tell her who I was so she wouldn't be so mad by the time she got to my name. It was a lose/lose situation. I also remember having to go 'pick the switch'....I really hated that. Her favorite was called dog fennel. It was always greeen with feathery leaves all the way down. If you held onto the top of it, you could just pinch and run your fingers all the way down it and remove the feathery leaves quickly. Limber and painful. I learned to hate the smell of cherries because of the smell of cherry tree switches. I like cherries now, though. ![]() I got to a point where I would bring her a big branch and say "Here. Beat me with this." Made her furious. ETA: Refusing to cry was one I did too. This also made it worse. I was a stubborn child. My little sister would just fall apart immediately so my mom wasn't as hard on her. Me...I was just very stubborn. I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of knowing how much it hurt. Ahhhh. Sweet cherished memories. Last edited by sammiz; 06-07-2008 at 10:43 PM. | |
