1--pour tequila in a glass

2--squirt windex on the window and remove with a soft cloth.

3--drink tequila

4--repeat

I use vinegar/water to clean pretty much every surface.. kitchen counter, stove top, spills on the floor, mirrors, the bottom of the bird cage, etc.

Use paper towels on windows and mirrors instead of paper towels.

Use a lint roller on lamp shades.

Microfiber towels are great to use on your Swiffer. No waste.

Look at you go green man! Vinegar is awesome. I use it mixed 50/50 for windows and it really cleans my tile better than anything. I've also found baking soda works really well to clean the cooked on spills on glass top stoves.

I just thought of another one. I buy those stacks of cheap washcloths at Target to use around the house instead of paper towels. You get a huge stack for a few dollars and they come in pretty colors. They'll hold out at least a year. Mine are 15 months old right now and they're faded and ugly but still doing the trick. I use them for everything.

Have y'all heard of ShMops? The best thing ever in the mop world IMO. It has a huge flat head and you use terrycloth covers. I have 7 covers so I'm never mopping with dirty water. I just fill my mop bucket, and throw all of the covers in. I put one on and mop with it until it isn't wet enough and then pull out another one. The dirt never touches your clean mop water. Then I wash them with any Target rags that are waiting to be washed.

Have you tried vinegar? I've heard warm vinegar works well. Spray in on and let it sit for a bit. Don't let the smell keep you from trying it. The smell dissipates really fast.

It works great! It's green and dirt cheap!

I've seen some people complain about the smell (which smells better than Lysol, Windex, and other chemical cleaners) but it fades within a minute or two.

Use lemon juice to clean brass and copper... just sprinkle salt on 1/2 a lemon then rub the metal with it and rinse... you can also remove tarnish from silver by making a paste of lemon juice and baking soda, apply it using a toothbrush let it dry then remove with a clean dry toothbrush and polish with a soft clean cloth....

I have to confess I am using my Mrs. Meyer's to mop with now because I just love the smell and I don't really care for the smell of vinegar but you're right- the smell goes away super fast.

Edit- I'm still using it for glass though.

I use the Target washcloths too, they are super cheap. I never use paper towels anymore I also use vinegar to clean a lot of things, it doesn't bother my allergies at all.

For fragrance I put some essential oils in a spray bottle with water or in a bowl, that works really well too. I also use lavender mixed with water to freshen my hair on days I don't want to wash it

Candle Holders: To prevent the wax from melting and sticking to the inside of a votive candle holder, pour a bit of water in the holder, then place the candle on top. If you're reading this tip too late, and there's already wax stuck inside your candle holder, pop it in the freezer for an hour. The wax will chip right off.

Chrome: To remove rust from chrome, wipe it with aluminum foil dipped in Coke. To polish chrome, use a crumbled up piece of aluminum foil and rub.

Freshen Laundry Basket: Place a fabric softener sheet in the bottom of your laundry basket (remember to change it weekly.) You can also simply sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom of your basket and that will help absorb the odors as well.

George Foreman Grills: After removing the cooked food from the grill, place a paper towel soaked in water on each of the 2 cooking surfaces. Unplug the appliance, allow it to sit for 5-30 minutes (while you eat), then use the paper towels to effortlessly wipe out the grease and food particles.
Pet Urine on Carpet: First, blot up what you can with paper towels. Then, with warm, soapy water and a clean cloth, blot the area clean; rinse with clean water; blot until dry. Next, combine 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup water and dab it on stain; rinse with clean water; blot until dry. Once the area is totally dry (at least 24 hours), sprinkle entire carpet with baking soda or rug deodorizer; vacuum after a few hours.
