| Trying not to be irked Good friends of ours have outside kitties. I dont have anything against that, we had barncats on our farm growing up. However, the cats keep getting pregnant. So I found an ad on Craigslist that says that this vet will spay and neuter a whole litter, including mom, for $20. This is perfect, since they have a litter now. They dont want their cats to keep having babies, so this is good. So I send it to the husband, and he was like, "well, I dont plan on keeping the kittens..." Ummm...so?? Its $20, then you dont have to worry about your kittens making a billion kittens. I understand that he just doesnt get it, he doesnt really get into animals and doesnt understand the major problems with ferral cats anymore or FIV and all that. When I worked at the Animal Hospital, I seen strays come in all the time. Stray litters, stray toms, that would test positive for FIV. Typical protocol for that is immediate euthanization, at that vets office anyway. I just think if it costs you $20 to fix a whole litter and mom, then why not?

| I agree! Try to make him understand! Its important that we all do what we can to stop the population of stray animals. Its very hard and sad for the animals.

| You could offer to take them to the vet if he will pay for it. Then maybe he would do it. If you were willing to take them. I know he should be responsible but some people just aren't. That is a really good deal!

Yorkie Yakker | Offer to take the mom and the litte to the vet for him. If he is going to get rid of them anyways, heck, I know that they aren't your cats, but can you spare the 20.00 and take them and do it yourself? We had and still have a stray cat that came to our house back in the winter. I can't stand to have any animal be it dog, cat or anything else for that matter starve so I fed her. Turns out she was pregnant and she had 5 kittens earlier this spring. If I could find a deal like that I would take them to be spayed and neutered, but I live back in the country and the vets don't offer things like that. But, I plan on bringing them in and letting the vet give them all of their shots and then put them up for adoption. |

| I think that's so noble of the Veterinarian offering to spay whole litters for 20 bucks. He's basically giving his services away for free. 70% of all cats taken into shelters are euthanized each year. So sad. I'll be praying that your neighbor changes his mind. I wonder if you could get a brochure from the clinic & give it to him?

| oh, please! He needs to realize whats ahead for these poor babies. I hope he lets you take them and if it's the $20 I'm sure there are plenty of people that would chip in.

| I talked to his wife, and she was much more positive about it She was calling to see when the soonest is she can have it done. Women can be so much easier to reason with on things like this.

| That's great news. It is very nice of you to help your friends do the right thing by the cats. I wish we could get good deals like that around here. The cheapest we can get a cat spayed is $40.00 plus a $10.00 rabies shot. That is each cat.
