| Crossbite on a person... This is totally off topic, I know. But we have so many members here, just thought there might be someone who actually knows anything about this. I have heard of an overbite and underbite, but a crossbite?? Does anyone actually have this condition? I would really like to talk to you, if so. |

| just a bite thats a bit off... Yep...I know a bit about cross bites...lol My 17 yr. old daughter had one...but braces corrected it~ It was only on one side of her jaw.... When you bite down..your teeth should line up on top of each other..the top will go over a bit... but in a cross bite...one side of the jaw..the bottom teeth go out farther than the top...creating a criss crossed bite so to speak... Super easy fix with braces...

| I am so glad you know something about this! My 7 year old son just went to the dentist. Now that his front adult teeth have come in, the dentist was quite concerned with his bite. He has always looked a little something different to me in the mouth area(only noticeable to a mother, I'm sure), that I couldn't put my finger on, but the dentist pointed out to me exactly what it is. She gave me NO info on it, just left me to imagine all kinds of things of how it is fixed. I have an orthodontist appt in Sept for him, that is so far away. I looked on the internet and only saw very extreme cases that looked nothing like what he has going on. Annadoodle, your description sounds just like what he has. I am so glad that braces fix it easily! I was quite upset about it, mostly because I was thinking he would have to have something very painful done. The dentist went on and on about how if this wasn't corrected that he would look funny as an adult, with speach and eating problems. Although he has no signs of a problem right now. He had a slight lisp as a very young child, but he doesn't have it anymore. Anyway, thank you so much for replying. Any other info you care to share with me is appreciated. Could you tell me at what age did your daughter get braces? Was it fixed completely? Thanks again |

| Its fixable...completely... Hi Jodi.. There may be more YT members that have some knowledge of this too... I PM'd you... Its fixable and I'd imagine they would wait to attempt to fix his until puberty age...his jaw is growing still... Heather had a pretty bad one on one side...she wore the Dreaded Headgear at night they make them sleep in.... She has a beautiful smile...but then...it cost a fortune! LOL There are all kind of bite problems...your sons jaws are growing at different rates..over bites, underbites, and crossbites..all fixable.. Your appt. for the ortho is fine...there isn't anything immediate they can do right now I suspect...they may do a pre-treatment...If his top jaw is narrow...and then fully brace him around 13. Let me know come September...k.....
