| Have you considered taking your son to see a pediatric psychiatrist instead of just the regular pediatrician? I really believe that as a whole our society is overmedicated, and I think it is because often we rely on our primary care physcians to diagnose and treat conditions which they have little experience with. The often over prescribe pr prescribe the wrong meds. A pediatric psychiatrist would (a) be more likely to give you an accurate diagnosis, (b) have greater expertise in psychopharmacology and be able to prescribe more appropriate medication if it is necessary, and (c) be specialized in the field of childhood brain disorders which ADHD is if that is what he has. I recently had a case where an adopted child had been misdiagnosed as ADHD when they were actually autistic. Sadly rather than support their child they chose to sue the adoption agency, my client, but over the course of the litigation I learned a lot about both ADHD and autism. More importantly I learned that young children are so complex that nuerological disorders are very very frequently misdiagnosed and nueropsychiatrists specializing in childeren are best equipped to make these diagnosis
