Not sure about a saint but I do LOVE animals and I have a hard time just giving up on someone... If that were the case I would have gotten rid of my 14 year old along time ago lol jk

If you have not read the book Marley and Me, I suggest you read it. Their dog was exactly the same way.
If I were you I would find a rescue to take her and let them know she needs to be out on a ranch or farm or have some serious training. You do not have to live like that. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I have not read that book but I have heard a lot about it I think I may pick it up or I think Lori said she had a copy I could borrow

It is becoming very hard to live this way It makes me very stressed out wondering how she will get out and will my other dogs be ok

Sounds like you give her a lot of exercise with the dog park and your son running with her. But its still not enough for her. She needs to be pushed more to make her work harder. Try getting her a back pack and slowly put more and more weight in it until you get to a point where she comes back in from her run and is tired. Or you can try finding some sort of cart for her to pull, same idea as the back pack. I think the back pack would be the easiest to try first.

If i were in your situation and have been dealing with her for 6 years then i wouldn't be able to give her up at her age. she is probably 7 or 8 years old now and probably doesn't have very many years left. You are all she knows and to rehome her now might be devastating for her.

try the backpack thing, hopefully it will work. just remember to gradually build up the weight so she doesn't hurt herself. good luck

I do have a bag, its like a saddle bag, but for dogs. I use it when I walk her and I fill it with water bottles.

I don't put it on her when she runs with my son because I thought it might hurt her back What do you think??

if you start out light and build her up it shouldn't hurt her. start her running with it on and nothing in it and then you can add dog food or something that can easily be added to or subtracted until you get the perfect weight for her. a tired pup is a happy pup.

I don't remember specifically how it came about, but my sister was able to rehome her shepherd to the police. The dog wasn't a pup, she was a few years old. She was very protective, not necessarily agressive. She had a baby and the shepherd was very good with him. Her husband was stationed in Alaska and she couldn't take care of dog and newborn by herself so she rehomed. Might be worth a try, at least they may be able to suggest something. Good luck!

Yeah well as far as protection goes... she is a big baby!! If I had to depend on her for protection i would be in big trouble

If she is to much for you, then she should be in a home that is more equipped for her. Please don't take that as a slam. There are people that had a better "understanding" for this type of dog.

It is hard to re-home, for all, but sometimes it is the best thing to do.
