| Picked the Wrong Colour Hi Yesterday, I decided to repaint our bedroom. What a disaster. Not only did I pick the wrong colour, (I had tried to match the bedspread, which is a silvery green) but I had lots of help. While I was up on the ladder, Tootsie and Teddy were busy ripping the masking tape off of the baseboard, they'd run as fast as they could with it, and then start fighting over it. Anyways, I only painted one wall, and it has a turquoise look to it. Totally wrong! My husband says to scrap it and pick a totally different colour, which I think I will do. Anybody else ever had days like these, or bad experiences with painting? I think I will hire a painter, I'm too darn old to be up on a ladder, anyways. lol Janice |

| When we built our new house 3 years ago (so hard to believe it's been that long!), I painted the rooms SO many different colors (but they all go together and some are only slightly different than others - like one sample card had three colors and we used all three in different rooms... make sense?). Our builder was skeptical at first because of course, he would have sent in a painter to do all one color with a different color trim. He loved it after we were all done. But I do feel your pain with the color selections. I drove my family and friends absolutely nuts while seeking opinions. I love every single color and think it all works very well with each other. The only room I've repainted (this past weekend, in fact) was the master bathroom. I had painted it a pale yellow but it has so many white cabinets and white wainscoting and white marble that it was just too washed out with all the sunlight it gets. I went a darker teracotta kinda color and LOVE it! It's SO hard to find the right colors. Hope you get it right next time! If I lived closer, I'd come paint it for you. I miss the painting..... the satisfaction after it's all done, ya know?

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Oh I'm in the same boat. We finally got to painting my son's old room (now that we know he won't be coming back to live in Ohio ) so I wanted a very pretty pale yellow for this room, so I picked out this color called Lemon Yellow and from the paint sample we had it was so pretty. Well.....once we got it on it was this bright, neon yellow. OMG you need sunglasses to walk in that room. Needless to say we will be redoing that room but not now that's for sure since my husband is pooped from this.

| What is it with the yellow colors, huh?? You should have seen us trying to pick the color for the outside of our house. It's a "farm style" house and has hardi plank siding all over. I wanted a yellow but not a bright yellow or a too pale yellow. I found a house in our small town that was the exact color I wanted. I tried taking sample cards over to the house and holding them up to it. Nothing was right. Then finally I talked to the owner of the house and he happened to have part of a can of paint left over from when he had painted a couple years before. It was some Sears brand and I was using Behr so I took the can, painted a small piece of Hardi Plank and took it to Home Depot to color match. It turned out perfect!! And I've even had someone from the building crew say that he had a client looking for that exact shade and never got it right. It's a yellow with almost a green cast to it but not enough to see green.... just enough to take the lemon out of it. After bugging that house owner so many times though, I ended up taking a Blue Bell ice cream gift certificate to him as a big thanks!

| Add me to the list......... I bought paint for the living room and front room last summer. The LR paint is ok..the other room paint is not the right shade so I sent it to work with DH. He works at a mission church and they're re-painting some of the old classroooms & need paint donations. It's a write-off for us. I'll get another color for the front room. My sister is bringing her off color paints for him to use there also. So, if you purchase paint that will not work and cannot return it....try donating it to a local church or charity & get a donation receipt.

| Hi Angie If we lived closer, believe me, I'd take you up on your sweet offer.I have lots of big strapping men in the family, but they are not "into" painting. My shoulders and arms are aching so bad today, I think I am just going to lay low. Today is my birthday, so who wants to paint, anyways? I think I will just sit around and see if I can't drive myself crazy trying to pick our that "perfect colour". It has to be something I am really excited about. Can't afford to blow this again, as the paint is expensive. |

I thought about buying a new bedspread, but actually I made the duvet cover, also the bedskirt, shams and a bed roll. Then, I reupholstered a chair and foot stool to match, so I kind of hate to change things at this stage of the game. I just did this a few months ago. If my yorkies could have gotten into the paint, they would have. I put the can down for two seconds, and Tootsie thought it would be nice to have a sip. She didn't get the chance, because I can second guess her, I know what she is thinking. They always seem to know that when I am busy, it's a great time to get into trouble, And LOts of it. ha ha I have never seen two such curious, trouble making, imps. | |

| Gizmo is the same way, so I understand. lol! He is a pest when I am sewing. I finally put a bed for him by the sewing machine. I guess the new bedspread is out, but it was a thought. lol! I have also considered counting my birthday's backwards, so happy (one less) birthday to you!

| HAPPY BIRTHDAY You should not be painting on your birthday I can just see the yorkies pulling off the tape. That is so typical ! I am useless with paint colours, they always turn out wrong... now I stick to different shades of beige, below and above the dado rails. Boring, but safe! Sheilagh
