Lori, I am so very sorry you are having to go through this too. My mom is fighting cancer right now and it's just such a hard thing to see. Like your grandmother, she refused treatment at first as well. She lived with the cancer for three years before telling us that she suspected she had it. After that, it took us several months to convince her to see a doctor. She just took her last chemo a little over a week ago. I just wanted to tell you that because even though she says she doesn't want treatment, that could change. There is always hope.

Cancer is very scary, i lost my cousin last week, she was fighting it for 5 yrs. She had a Braintumor. There is soo much they can do now, just try to be possitive ! hugs

Thank you all for your offers of comfort.. I am Trying to come to terms with all of this and It is really hard. I appreciate all the offers for help. I am not ready to really talk yet but I really do want to thank you all for your Kind words and Prayers.

I have not even talked to my Gramma yet. I am afraid to call her. I am afraid that I will break down and not be strong for her.
How do I deal with all this and try to stay strong for her? I don't want to be weak I want to be there for her when she needs me, And If I Break down I wont be able to.

Oh my, I just found this thread.... I'm so very sorry for both your pain and fear and that of your Grandma. People will say that it's okay to break down and show your unabashed love for her. But I know exactly how you feel. I am always so worried that if I "lose" it, I won't be able to pull it together and then my loved one will end up comorting me instead. That all may really be fine in reality, but I know how you feel about it.

You and your Grandma will be in my prayers. I worked in an oncology clinic about 20 years ago. And my mom beat cancer 5 years ago. Medicine and treatment has changed dramatically in those years between should she choose to fight this in that way. But no matter what, I pray for bravery, strength, and health for all of you.

Sweet, sweet Lori...I am saddened to hear about your grandma...hold strong and true to your family...she needs your support now more then ever. So as hard as it may seem...please just be supportive and understand her feelings. As my dear Dad said on his death bed..."life is for the living, I have lived mine...now you must live yours". Be there and support her decisions, she'll be so thankful for this. It is not easy to watch someone you love dearly leave this earth...but don't feel as though you abandoned her or your family...you are living your life, that is what she'd want you to do. Support her choices and encourage her to receive all the information and knowledge she'll need to make the right choice for her life. Bless you Lori for being the loving and caring person that you are...love her, care for her and most of all try to understand and support her. Hugs...I do know...I've been there too.

I'm so sorry, Lori to hear that about your grandmother. You had said you were afraid to call your grandma for fear of breaking down. Ah.....Lori, don't be afraid to call her. From my experience, it IS one of the hardest things you have to do but when you leave things unsaid, it is even harder to look back and say "I wish I would have told her that". I pray that God will give you the strength to do whatever you need to do to make peace with her illness.

Lori, it is perfectly okay to break down when you speak with your grandmother and I think it would be odd if you did not. The important thing is that you let her know how much you care and that you will be supporting her. When I was diagnosed all that mattered to me was hearing their voices.
Please, just pick up the phone and say hello and everything else will fall into place. {{{ hugs }}}

When my Mom had the stroke last year she lived for a week paralyzed and just in bad shape. It will amaze you how you can be dying on the inside and appear positive on the outside. We would all take turns walking out of the hospital room and break down. Even if you break down just hearing your voice will comfort her.

Well I have not called My Gramma today, I will Tomorrow For sure.
I talked to my Sister today and she Helped me A lot.
She also said I need to get down there asap. Before she gets any sicker.
I have to Get a Plain Ticket Now.. I also have to figure out if I can take my Daughter or not? Should I bring her? I think she needs to see her Great Gramma befor she is gone. That is important.

God I just can't stop Crying.. I Hate this....

I know exactly how you feel. My Grandma was diagnosed with cancer last year right around this time of year. It is a lot to take in. I'm sending many thoughts and prayers for you and your family. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm right here.

How old is your daughter? If she is old enough, I'd encourage you to take her. My daughters just came home from college last weekend to say "goodbye" to my mom just in case. They are just keeping my mom comfortable, but there is no way to know if she will leave us in a couple weeks or months or when. But both girls said that "just in case" they wanted to be sure to hug and kiss Grandma.
