The 3 things to successful photography

-Paying attention to details, scencery,etc.
-Paying attention to your model, posing, clothing, etc.
-Imagination!! With a good edit/enhancement system you can make any picture POP!!

I was using a canon 18-55 f/3.5-4.5 standard kit lens. (I'm looking into new lenses and I definitely want a 50 f/1.8 and a 24-70 f/2.8 or something similar.) Settings were 1/400 f/5.6 200 ISO. I only recently switched to manual so it that was just guess work.

Post processing I upped the saturation for web and on the b&w's I played with the histograms to get more contrast.

I am open to any suggestions!

On my screen, the pictures look just a little bit noisy or slightly fuzzy in some parts. If you would raise the shutter speed, it will take a crispier picture. I'm not sure if thats correct, but it works when I do it. Lol. Normally I use Noise Ninja to help get rid of the noisy parts.

In my honest opinion, the kit lens isn't that great. I really don't like it because it doesnt have IS.

LOL well like when I say details with her hands folded I would of made sure both hands were showing, like instead of that hand underneath her arm I would of had it out laying on her upper arm.

On the second post second pic...I think it would look great if you would of zoomed it in and turned your camera slighty to get a angle and focused on her face. (Hope this makes sense) That is really a good pic.

Scenery was her school. It was very difficult to keep the highway and the houses out of the pic, and I definitely failed in some of them. I'll work on this.

With the clothing, I had no choice. As for posing, I'm awful at it, but hoping to improve through practice.

I try to keep away from digital enhancement. I don't even crop. Maybe I'm being silly, but I feel that if I change the pic too much it isn't the pic I took anymore. I don't mind getting rid of blemishes and such on the model or subject and maybe tweaking color balance and contrast a bit, but that's about as much as I do. Oh, and sometimes I do fun stuff like selective coloring.

Yes, I hate the kit lens, but for now it's all I've got. More than anything, I want to have lower F-stops. That's what I'm focusing on when I buy a new one.

those are wonderful & soooo fun. She looks like she was having a good time and from the pics it looks like you did too. Easy to take good pics when you have an adorable subject

Yea when I say enhancement, I by far am not talking about adding a lime green border More of the lines of Color accents, soft focus, black/white, etc those are all forms of enhancements.
