| I cry too easily! Does anyone know how to stop yourself from crying. I swear I cry at the drop of a hat. It isn't depression it is something I have done all of my life. For example My boss and I got into a discussion about my job (I'm trying to get more hours" and she had to tell me I didn't get what I wanted. I, like a fool, teared up because I was so disappointed. I know it is understandable to be disappointed but to cry? I cry every time Lassie comes home too. Sigh. Any suggestions? |

| I know exactly what you are talking about because I am the same way. I cry when I'm sad, I cry when someone else starts crying, I cry when I'm happy, I cry when I see a touching movie or show, I cry when I'm really angry, sometimes my crying even makes others cry. It's frustrating sometimes when you're really mad but you wind up starting to cry and I hate that. Not sure why I am that way. Mostly I think I am really sensitive to how others feel and I have a lot of empathy for others so I try to tell myself it's a good thing but sometimes I wish I could control it more. But I guess it's better to let things out than hold them in, right? And it's just me and I've come to accept that I'm really not so bad after all even if I do cry at the drop of a hat. |

| Oh man can I relate.......I was always like that too but then one day I couldn't stop crying. I myself take antidepressants and it helps me a lot. I was extremely sensitive to every single thing and I was hard to live with because of it. I do believe it is a chemical imbalance. If you can live with it and it doesn't affect your day to day life then I wouldn't worry about it but you may find that someday the stress in your life will put you over the edge. If this happens go see your doctor. There is no reason to suffer. Everyone thinks antidepressants are for depression but I believe that our lifestyle uses up the supply of seratonin in our bodies and eventually we run out or just don't have enough to be balanced. I'm much happier now. I feel that my moods are a lot more steady but I am still able to cry under NORMAL situations. lol Like you I found it so embarrassing. I especially cried when I was angry and then I could never communicate properly and everything always got blown out of proportion. Good luck....I hope you get the information you need. Are you a right brain thinker???? If so that could explain a lot of it. Right brain thinkers tend to be extremely sensitive and passionate. I wouldn't want to be any other way but this is the down side to it.

| Yes, I think I am. If I remember correctly handedness has something to do with that doesn't it? I'm left-handed. Plus I am horrible at math and always excelled in literature. hmm You may have something there. anyone else? |

| crying Wow that's me too! My husband got really concerned about it and encouraged me to talk to my friend who is a nurse practitioner and I also spoke with a counselor. They both suggested I get on antidrepressants/anxiety medication as well as get a companion for when my husband is away long hours. I was really nervous about being on "crazy meds" but decided to give it a shot. I got on Lexapro and got my yorkie Lexie and I'm a completely different person! I still cry sometimes but it is more few and far between and at appropriate situations. My solution, talk to your dr. and spend more time with our furry friends. They really are therapeutic. |

| I cry about sad animal stories or circumstances...more so than I do about people.
