My thought exactly!! I do not see what the big deal is when people get all bent out of shape over a book. My children are raised Catholic and no Childs book is going to change their belief in God. Basically it is adults that are reading too much into and a child would never of came to the conclusions that the Adults bring up. I would rather see my kids reading a book then playing a video game any day!

I worked for 13 years in an elementary school library. I made it a point to read as many of the books on the shelves as possible so that I could help the students with book selections..... I read The Golden Compass and one of the other books in the series. The books were definately way over the heads of the 5 to 10 year old readers that we served (left over books from the days the school was k-12).

I felt that the books were definately anti-God.... it has been many years since I read them, but I was disturbed by them.

I am not a movie goer so I probably won't see the movie until it comes out on DVD.

I'm wondering if you thought the books were anti-God because you read them and deduced that all on your own or did you know they were supposedly anti-God beforehand?
