Like London, Sukoshi is VERY social, and if there are all these other dogs around, she will NOT want to take a second out to go potty .

As for the x-pen question, we are hooking x-pens together for the babies at the meet-up on Friday (which is why I'm asking those driving to bring their x-pen(s) if possible), but as for at the hotel, I believe they will have to be on a leash, in a carrier, in a stroller, etc. at all times. Due to liability, I'm not sure about having them lose - even if in an x-pen. I would suppose we could set-up a couple x-pens in the corner as long as the applicable parents are watching their babies while they're in it, but personally, I wouldn't just put Sukoshi in there and go mingle, because you never know when an argument will break out, and I'd hate to not be there to jump in immediately. For that same reason, I don't think I'd be comfortable with Sukoshi just wandering around the ballroom either and just blocking off the door. BUT...if that's something people are interested in (a Yorkie play area or having them wander free around the ballroom), I can ask the hotel if they have a problem with us doing that...as long as you stay there to watch your baby while in play time. What do you guys think?

I think a little area in a corner or something with peepads would be good. At the meetups i go to that's what they do and all the dogs go potty there. As for a little play area, i think it would be good to have like a closed in area by a large xpen or several so that those that want their dogs to socialize can put them in there. It should be pretty big and spacious for them to run around, i think that would be better than just letting them roam all around the ballroom so that they don't get stepped on, etc. For the people that want to put them in the play area they should watch them or just stay close by to keep an eye on them. btw where will be the meet on friday for all the dogs?

It's crazy for me to think of people not having their license or driving (being raised in MO where there's no subway or anything, driving was a must), but that's AWESOME that you're in a city that has such an established Subway line that you don't need to drive! I HATE driving, and with all the money you're saving on gas, you've got a good thing going on ! Like you said though...this may not be the best time for you to get your practice in! We want to make sure you and your babies make it to the meet-up in 1 piece!!!!

It will be at a local park near the Plaza, but I haven't decided which one for sure yet. There are SEVERAL parks in the area, including the front lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum which is quite beautiful, but I want to scope them all out while I'm home for Christmas here in a couple weeks so I can find the best spot for us and our babies (and make sure they'll allow all our dogs at whatever location will work the best). The park closest to the Plaza is normally very busy, so I want to find a good location that will have plenty of space without feeling cramped. I have a couple leaders in mind, but I want to see them in person to refresh my memory. I will also ensure it is within the 2 mile radius from the hotel so we can utilize the hotel shuttle to get us all there .

I go to school in Long Island and i take the LIRR 3 times a week and its soo expensive, so actually i wish i had a car. I'm trying to get one soon. But yes if i went to school here in the city it would be better, there's so many ways of transportation! But crowded trains and buses are not my thing

Outside won't be a problem. This is one of the few hotels on the Plaza that isn't surrounded completely by stores and restaurants, so there will be a place for your babies to go outside.

AH! Well that sucks! I have given up the daily commute to downtown Los Angeles, so I drive to the MetroLink station here (a double-decker commuter train, more like an Amtrak) and take that to Union Station. Then, I ride the MetroRail (like NY's subway or DC's metro) from Union Station to near my building and hike it in from there . I'm with ya on the "crowded trains and buses are not my thing" comment! Unfortunately, it is less frustrating than LA traffic though because I can sleep !!!

Anyway...sorry to get us off-topic. Now back to regularly scheduled programming ...

Second, a note to anyone considering booking online. I worked part time behind the front desk of a hotel while I went back to school. If you are considering booking through one of those travel search engines, be warned. They often sold rooms we didn't have...they'd sell non smoking rooms that were sold out, king rooms that we didn't have, etc... Because they charge you directly and then pay the hotel, you have no recourse with the hotel itsself. If you are booking online through the hotels own site, that will probably be okay, but I'd be leary of those online booking engines. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU WILL BE TRAVELING WITH A PET. I saw many an unhappy traveler the two summers I worked there who had booked through one of those third party sites. (LOL, see how I'm not mentioning any names...)

p.s. I've been looking but can't find an updated list of who's registered?

I'm still trying to determine finances. If I can pull together the funds, I'll be there.
See post #132, this thread.

OOPS! Already answered above, post #181, sorry, posted too soon, should have read farther first.

Good...I don't think Lacy would pee on a pad to save her life! I tried them when she was a puppy and she tore them up and as an adult when she's around them, she thinks they are a blanket and just lays on them. She's got to have grass to potty in
