| Opps, sorry I tried to edit what I said and ended up messing the whole thing up. My father and I have this coversation all of the time. He says that they do not go to heaven and showed me the verses in the Bible. When we had to put our family cocker spaniel, Brandy, down a few years ago he said it broke his heart. He was so upset to think that was the end of Brandy, she just quit being altogether. My thought is this, God makes heaven perfect for everyone. I think that my furbabies will be waiting to spend all of eternity with me in heaven because that is what would make my heaven perfect. I hope I haven't offended anyone with this as it is just my opinion. Oh yeah, the reason I quote my father is that he is an elder at our church and very knowledgeable as he studies the Bible everyday.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I fully believe that NO ONE, not even the bible, can answer this question....unless one of us here is god? That is, if there is one. And, as far as I know, none of us here can truly know the nature of god, if there is one. It would surely be mightily arrogant if we thought we could. If there is not a god, then none of us goes anywhere. If there is one, then surely all good creatures are loved in equality - otherwise, what kind of god, god forbid, would THAT be? If there is a heaven, I cannot fathom animals not being there as I find them FAR more honorable than human beings. Just my humble opinion.

| I believe that they do. The bible was written by man - God's words and teachings, but written by man, and as we all know mankind is not perfect. This topic could cause wars!! I have a degree in English and in lit courses you study the bible as literature - the more you learn academically the more you can argue against all types of beliefs and religion - that is why you need faith. If you choose to follow the bible word for word, we would not spare the rod so we don't spoil the children and many others - I'm a teacher and some kids could you a good beating at home!! (j/k) I choose to believe that heaven is does exist and all dogs go to heaven ... just like charlie... |

| I believe they do! I would not truly be happy without my furbutts with me, and I want to believe I will never be sad in heaven, so for that (you can call it silly) reason, I think they do

| The book of Revelation tells us that there are birds and horses in Heaven already. Some feel that animals cannot go to Heaven because they have no soul and cannot be saved from their sins. But animals are innocent -- they do not sin -- they are like babies or those who are severely retarded. They go to Heaven for the same reason. So I do believe that our beloved pets will be in Heaven with us. |

| animals God, obivious loves animals, He made them first, then He made man to care for them in the Garden... Heaven is not one place, the scriptures tell us there are levels, it also says there will be a new earth after the Satan is locked in Hell for eternity.. to some who do not believe the Bible, may find it strange to hear, but the "redeemed" will be able to come and go between heaven and earth...I think the animals may remain here on earth, but that is just a guess..whereever they are, we will have free access to them... |

| There is a great quote from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - 'Intolerance,'is a thing that causes war, pogroms, crucifixions, lunchings, and makes people cruel to little children and to each other. It is responsible for most of the viciousness, violence, terror and heart and soul breaking of the world.' " (sorry I'm a book dork!) and I think it fits here along with just about everything else in life too - we all have different opinion, views, and beliefs, but we need to be tolerant and respectful of eachother. I hope we are all mature enough to listen and discuss without bashing other people's views and beliefs!! |

| My 2 Cents My point of view may be unpopular, so I decided to simply post what the bible says about this, and leave you to decide for yourself. I have included scriptural references for you to choose to look up on your own, or not. Please keep in mind that I absolutely LOVE animals, and I’m especially partial to dogs (Yorkies are my favorite) I do not mean to offend anyone. Just so it’s clear, I do not want to debate religion here, I’m here to learn about Yorkies, but the bible is my favorite book, and I study it daily so I thought I’d put in my 2 cents. Regarding the term “soul” the bible is pretty clear if you look. (Gen 2:7; 1 Cor 15:45; 1 Pet 3:20; Gen 9:5; Josh 11:11; Matt 10:28; Acts 3:23) all use the term “Soul” to mean people, so we are souls. As for animals (Gen 1:20, 21, 24, 25; Lev 24:17, 18; Rev 16:3) refer to animals as “souls” so yes, animals DO have souls. This includes dogs. While the Israelites did not seem to view dogs as pets, Job specifically mentions dogs (Job 30:1, 1:3) God gave us instructions regarding all animals (Psalm 8:6-8; 115:16) Our responsibility towards animals is clear (Proverbs 12:10; Deuteronomy 22:4, 10; 25:4) However, the bible also says that humans, not animals, were made “in the image of God” (Genesis 1:26) And although animals were created with a limited life span, man had the prospect of living forever on earth (Genesis 3:22, 23; Psalm 37:29) Jesus said that in order to enjoy “everlasting life” we must exercise faith and take in knowledge of God, something animals are incapable of doing (John 3:36; 17:3) Originally, man was instructed to eat only vegetation, but after the flood, man was given permission to eat all animals (Genesis 1:29; 9:3) However no where are we permitted to eat humans (Thank goodness!) Mind you, I know there are places where people eat dogs, but let’s face it, that’s just GROSS. *shudder* yuck, how can they? As for heaven, the bible states that not every “good person” will go to heaven. (Acts 2:29,34; Matthew 11:11; John 3:13; Revelation 21:1-4) Those who do not can look forward to eternal life on earth. However, nothing is mentioned in the bible of animals having eternal life, let alone going to heaven. So the answer, according to the bible is yes dogs are souls and no, they do not go to heaven. In fact, Eccl 9:5; Ps 146:4 show that when we die, we simply go to sleep, and Eccl 3:19 includes animals in with this. Safiyah |
