I believe that they do. The bible was written by man - God's words and teachings, but written by man, and as we all know mankind is not perfect. This topic could cause wars!! I have a degree in English and in lit courses you study the bible as literature - the more you learn academically the more you can argue against all types of beliefs and religion - that is why you need faith. If you choose to follow the bible word for word, we would not spare the rod so we don't spoil the children and many others - I'm a teacher and some kids could you a good beating at home!!
