I am no attorney but I would think that company that has the lien against it needs to go after the car dealership that sold it to you and not you. What the car dealership did was illegal. The owner of the car lot has alot bigger problems than bankrupcy....he can go to jail for what he did. Is there a way you can contact the owner and try to get your money back. Tell him you are filing a police report against him if her doesn't refund your money. (I would not tell him that the lien company is coming to get the vehicle....you will never get your money back if you tell him that!!!!!) I would definitely call a lawyer.
I would not turn the truck over to lien company until you get some legal advise!!!

oh, I'm so sorry. I hope you can at the very least get all your money back. Call the attorney general's office. Here in Iowa, they have people who take these kind of calls - its their job & our ag is very on top of things

OMG, that is horrible!! I would hide the truck until you can get this straightened out. How was the truck paid for? Do you have a receipt?

I would go to the police station and file a report. I would also contact a lawyer to see what your options are. Do you have any names of people at the car lot?

In the meantime, keep the truck hidden. If you can't do that, then remove anything new that you may have added to the truck yourselves. Don't let them take it if you have put money into it.

I hope you can get this straightened out soon. I'm so sorry this has happened to you!

We don't have the pink slip for the truck. The car lot usually handles all that and a new one is issued and mailed to us. We never received anything.

We're going to do some research over the next few days but i have a feeling we are totally screwed

Do you know who Turko is on Ch 9 News?
I must have missed it, but my husband told me he just did a report on car dealers doing this. So there is hope. I'll ask him more when he gets home.

OH NO Jodie!!!

This is horrible!!! I would definitely get with your bank and attorney to see what can be done....AND I would NOT let the truck go until you no more about it. How much is the lien on the truck.....I wonder if this is ALL just part of the scam?? The car lot taking your money and then someone coming to get the truck.....I just wonder if it is all together?? You know??

That's horrible. I can't believe how low some people get these days. This is turing out to be a world full of a lot of nasty people. Thank goodness not everyone is nasty like this. Keep your head up, call a local attorney, and see what they can do to help. Were there other cars on the lot? I wonder if other people are in the same position as you?

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but legally, this is a civil case and, even if you win, you probably won't see your money again. I'm very sorry.

This is beginning to happen more and more and for a reason. This is exactly why I get so upset at our elected officials when they start introducing flag burning bills, gay marriage bills, etc. They need to be introducing bills that will change this type of activity from a criminal offense to a civil offense.

This is so depressing in more ways than one for us.

My husband specifically went to a dealer to avoid having any problems! You can't trust anyone these days

This company definately is the lien holder, dmv provided the info.

well, after researching online i found two other people that received shady dealings from this dealership. I wish there was some way i could contact the people. One was an old craigslist type ad and another was on a dealer review with no way to email or anything.

I reported them to the police dept. Hopefully someone else has reported them too!
