Horrific tragedy

First, above all, I am so very sorry about your loss. I can't imagine how awful you must feel. Time will heal....... and try to think about the blessing and fun that you shared with your little girl.

To hope that a dog be destroyed is something that I would NEVER do, although sometimes it is inevitable. I think that the dog is an innocent creature. The owner, who obvious didn't pay much attention to the dog (which also may be part of the reason for aggression... and no socializaton), was allowing the dog to roam unsupervised. (according to the post, it wasn't the 1st time the dog had been out). Go for the owner!!...He(or She) is to blame!!!...... Besides being compensated with $$$$, INSIST that an animal control officer do unexpected home visits!! Then they can check and see if the dog is being tended to OR allowed to roam outside alone! Make sure that they KNOW how important it is to you to be a responsible pet owner.... and emphasize it with every statement in court! ( I think that the judge would consider it admirable!!!)....

Animal control gave me the owner’s address and I gave it to my friend. He is sending her a letter giving her a “head’s up” that we are going to pursue this case. My thoughts are that if the financial costs to the insurance company are sufficient enough, they will pressure her to get rid of the dog, or drop her. When/if it is time to estimate money - just be sure you talk to your vet about Bella's future health needs as they relate to her current injuries.

This morning I went to the vet and picked up Sissy's ashes. The box is so tiny, it just breaks your heart. Bella is slowly getting better. The doctor took the drain out of her leg on Thursday so that it wouldn't get infected. She is limping pretty bad because she has severe muscle damage to that leg, but her spirits are good and she's wagging her tail. Again, my family and I can feel the strength of all of your prayers carrying us through this pain.

Oh i am so sorry for your loss... I understand the fear ... when Jax came home a lab camed though our fence and I had to grab him and Jolie , only one board was broke and he was swimming at the neighbors and charged after us ... i screamed bloody murder... I was so upset fortunately for us we were ok... I am so sorry for Sissy . we hope Bella recovers without complicaions.

Thanks for the update. Sooooo glad Miss Bella's spirits are up! I'm sure the trauma of loosing her best friend in such a horrific way will not soon be forgotten.

Bella , Al and I would like to wish all of you a Beautiful and Blessed Thanksgiving. Bella is improving every day, and will have her stitches taken out on Saturday. Yesterday, the lady who owns "Precious" put a card in my mailbox expressing her sorrow over what happened. She also gave me her phone number. Thank you for all the prayers, we have gained much strength through them.
