| Anyone have toy(?) poodle? Well as a lot of you know I am in the puppy mood, I have been researching all kinds of different breeds(toy poodles, chinese crested, biewers, maltese, papillons) thinking maybe eventually we would add another. I love the yorkie breed so I have even thought of adding another of those, I had inquired about Rachel's little guy too. My hubby hasn't been 100% with me on this idea, but I have been working hard on him for a few days now, and he is coming around. At first it was our finances he was worried about(the extra vet bills), but I told him I have a new job taking extra cash now watching my brothers kids and I'd use that.He also said he doesn't want to be a part of the housebreaking(going in and out), which I don't mind anyway. I think he is going to let me !! Now I am so confused, because I don't know what breed I want, I love them all! If it were up to me and I had the space I would have one of each, hee hee. Anyway, I have a friend that I spoke with today to get some poodle advice and she has a little black male toy poodle, he is the cutest, I went to see him. (I hate the word toy,but she says that is what they are called, I don't know.) that is left out of a litter that is not spoken for. He is 9wks. and weighs 1 1/2 lbs. His mom and dad are both about 5-6lbs. I think she said. I have seen the mom(she is black and small) the dad isn't hers so I haven't seen him. So I am wondering is this little boy going to be small(she estimates about 6lbs.) when I look at the charts I get 4lbs. Is this a healthy weight for this age? How can you tell if his fur will stay black, will it grey? She said it wouldn't. I wonder if it would get along with my other 3, yorkie, chihuhua and a pomeranian. When I seen him I fell in love, but could that just be my heart thinking first again.. So any advice on this issue would be appreciated. Should I get him, or should I add another yorkie, or another breed? I get so excited when I think of adding him to our family. Also what is the usual price of a toy poodle?

| She is adorable. How old is she and what does she weigh? This girl is asking $399, but she lives within 10 minutes of me.

| I think $399 is about average. My mom paid $450 for hers. I had to call her and ask her lol.

| Thanks for doing that. I guess where I paid $1400 for Lily I thought $399 was almost unreal. I guess poodles aren't as popular as a yorkie, maybe that is why the difference in price.

| i had a black toy poodle (tazy) a few years back before a coyote got to him. he was also smaller about 4 pounds, he was the cutest and smartest little guy, we had him for 9 years and he did start to get grey about 7 years in. Now we have a Chocolate colourd one (Toffee) he is a bit bigger but weighs only 5.5 pounds, i wish i had a picture, because he gets the cutest hair cut, little pom poms on the bottom of his legs..!

As to size, I have never found the weight charts to be accurate for poodle puppies. A 9 week old 1 1/2 lb puppy should stay small. My 3 week old pups are over a pound already. I expect them to be 6-8lbs full grown, based on previous pups. $400 for a toy poodle pup sounds about average around here. That is what I charge for my pups. I also offer (free) doggie sitting when the families go on vacation or any other reason and discounted grooming so that I can watch them grow and see them often! I love Toy Poodles, they are very intelligent, affectionate and are VERY easy to housetrain and teach commands. My vote is for the little poodle boy!! | |

| I think you would just fall in love with a toy poodle. Tinker is 3 years old and such a joy to have. I paid $300 for her and she is worth every penney. Here are two pictures of her. Good luck with whatever breed you choose.

| I have a poodle that's about 12 pounds so she's not a toy, but she's not a standard either. She's the quietest most wonderful little girl. I think a poodle would really compliment your yorkies.

I have a mini poodle that looks just like this! We love Martin to pieces, he weighs about 10 or so pounds. He is so good with Sam and kids. He never barks except when he is hungry!
