| New Yorkie Owner - advice I'm new to yorkietalk, but I'm glad I found this site because I can share how much I love my new yorkie baby Zizou. He is just over four months, very sweet, and follows me everywhere. The only thing is that my boyfriend is getting a little jealous - not of the dog, of me! Sometimes he is hurt that Zizou is so attached to me. Even though my boyfriend feeds him, walks him, and plays with him just as much as I do, Zizou is always trying to get closer to me and will leave my boyfriend behind to follow me out of the room. When we walk him together, the puppy only walks with me. If my boyfriend has the leash, the puppy still acts like I'm walking him and pulls on the leash to stay close to me. He always wants to be in my lap and often ignores my boyfriend. Is this normal for the breed? |

| He sure is a looker. VERY VERY handsome. Congrats on your baby. Now... on the issue you have. I have a boy & a girl. My girl DEFINATELY would rather be with my husband and it breaks my heart because IIIIIII was the one who went & picked her out, went back and picked her up and when she got VERY VERY sick only after 1 day of owning her, IIIII got up EVERY 1-1 1/2 with her to make sure she was ok, yah know.....still alive. BUT NOOOOOO, she wants him. I completely understand where you boyfriend is coming from. I dont know what it is but my girl does it too... Good luck and WELCOME!!!!

| He is so cute!!! What an adorable face! I have one yorkie named Lacy. I think yorkies do mostly attach themselves to one person. I think they can love several people but I think most people here will say that their yorkies seem to prefer one person in their life. I think sometimes it depends on who they've had a chance to bond with first too...did your puppy bond with you first? At 4 months your baby is going to be growing physically and in his personality so I'm sure there will be a lot of time for your boyfriend to bond more with him. Let your boyfriend to continue having good bonding time often with your puppy and I'm sure your puppy will become more attached. He may always be more attached to you than your boyfriend though.

| Welcome to YT. Glad you found us!!! Your baby is precious! I am not an expert, but I do believe that it is normal for your baby to attach themselves to one person. I have noticed with my yorkie and others that I have been around that they are very loyal. My son tries so hard for our little yorkie Roxee to stay with him. We put Roxee in his lap, in his arms, on his bed, etc and she will stay only until she sees her mommy. Roxee is 1, and she really recently started to really like my husband. She always liked him, but not if I was around. Within the past several months, everynight she will sit with him while watching tv. I think it will get better, although you will probably be her mommy!!! I tell my children, there is nothing like a good mommy!!! Good luck and please keep us posted on your baby! Maybe someone else on here will have more information on this. Thea and Roxee |

| I did pick him out and spend a few hours with him first. I have been wondering if gender has anything to do with it? Thanks for replying. |
