Question about plant My neighbor has this really big tree and it is in bloom does anyone know if the Fruit that it is dropping ok for the dogs to eat. I know that someone told me one time that we could eat them but is it ok for the dogs. I have found our Yorkie with one and our Lab eat one too. I just don?t want to end up with two sick dogs.

The leaves are not of a fig tree. I thought this at first too. I'm going to go look in my Sunset Western Garden book. Ok, it's a strawberry tree. (Arbutus unedo) All have ornamental bark, clusters of little urn-shaped flowers, decorative edible fruit, handsome foliage. Native to eastern Mediterranean. Looks like the fruit wont hurt the dogs.

Thanks I was a little worried about it! I did not know what it was all I know is that I never cared about it tell I noticed the dogs eating the fruit. It is a real pretty tree and I don't know how the fruit tasted and I am a little scarred to eat it, because I do not know much about it.
