| I wanted a small dog, that would be suitable for a small house and other pets.

| I always wanted a small, lap dog that was all mine own. My husband and I were at Braums one night and a couple had the cutest little dog with them. I told my husband, "I don't know what kind of dog that is but that is exactly what I want". On our second anniversary he bought me a Yorkie, Cassie. She was my special angel for 16 years. We lost her on June 9th and I miss her every day. My husband wanted a big dog, a "man's" dog but he feel in love with her too and we got our second Yorkie, Mindi, when Cassie was about 6. Mindi decided she liked my son best and when he moved out, he took her with him. He now has 2 yorkies. For my husband's birthday last year, I got him a Yorkie of his own, Bo. And, I now have a new baby, Meisa and I'm thinking of getting another one. We are a Yorkie family now and would not have any other breed. Nothing against other breeds, we just love Yorkies so much. |

| My story goes like this...my family always had dogs when I was growing up..never a Yorkie..we had a few Spitz and a Shih-Tzu..all of them are either strays or adopted. We never paid anything for them and we spent all of the money for better food and toys and vaccinations etc. They actually eat good human food and all of them lived very long. They all passed away due to old age. So I just got married this year and my husband works long hours and I find myself being on my own most of the time. It gets pretty lonely and I always missed having dogs because I have always been a dog person. I love all dogs but I am afraid of BIG dogs like Rottweilers, Dobermans due to a bad childhood experience...one nearly bit my neck/throat. So I came up with Maltese, Yorkie, West Highland White Terrier, Papillon, Pekingese, Shih-Tzu, Chihuahua, Cairn Terrier, Silky Terrier and I wish I could have all of them but to cut the story short, my hubby who never had a dog before insists that he wants a Yorkie and nothing else and so, that is how we got stuck with a Yorkie and we love him dearly. He did cost some money as we are not able to adopt from Yorkie Rescue here due to us living in a condo but I sure love my baby very very much! We also do not plan to have a child so I guess our furbaby is always going to be our only baby!

| Hope I don't bore you all too much but this is part 2 of our story. 4 years ago my mom who works for a rescue group asked me if I wanted another dog. I had thought about it, I knew Daisy was lonely. She had lost 2 housemates so far. She took Annie very badly. We were at a car show one day and a lady was carrying a Yorkie. Daisy got all excited.... She was sure she had found Annie! I told the lady we had just lost ours and could she please bring our baby down so Daisy could see it was not Annie. Daisy was so excited until the York got close enough. Then she just sighed deeply and layed on the ground. I told my mom if she could find me a young small female I would take her. I got a call a few days later! Good grief! All they seem to ever deal with is pits and big dogs. As I was getting ready to head into Chicago to see 'her'. I got a call.... OPPS! Its a boy. I hesitated... I really wanted a girl! Hubby said go anyway! So off I went. I got there and wasn't sure if it was a York or a silky. We tended to think Silky or a cross. And small? Nope!! 12 #'s! And not even young! The adoption coordinator said about 3. I thought more like 6. This past summer we found out more like 9 or 10 at the time. But home this poor matted mess went with us. He had been found wandering the streets of Chicago, he sat for 2 months without being claimed or adopted. It is beyond me why!! Yes he was a mess but so what?? Anyway he was my gentleman. So sweet, housebroken. Could never understand what happened in his life to wind up on the streets. Then this summer he was diagnosed with 2 forms of cancer. We knew we'd have to have another dog for Daisy. She is 9 now and we didn't want her to be alone. So Sept 10th we got our puppy Keifer and hoped by having a pup we'd have our York for more than just a few years this time! Then on October 9th we had to send Cooper to the bridge. That broke all our hearts. My sweet gentleman is with Annie learning the ropes at the bridge and waiting for us. |
