Remme is of great PEt Quality. By no means is he suitable for breeding. His coat , his ears, his size, etc. He is beautiful and I can see he is a sweet heart but it wouldn't be wise to breed him.:animal36

Yes, Remme is of loving pet quality. And I am sure you love him with all your heart. He looks like such a sweetie. I would have him altered and love him just the same. You really don't want to get in all that mess of breeding him and worry about him.

Thank you everyone for your comments. i do love my Rems and would never get rid of him but it breaks my heart that he isnt up to snuff. i got the male out of the litter to breed one day. and because i know that the male dogs like the human females. i am going to wait and see what he weights at a year, and see what progresses. i know he is on the large side but if he doesnt get any bigger maybe i can still breed with the lady who has one larger female, she mainly breeds standard but i understand and agree her families that what yorkies shouldnt get the tiny ones and that a larger yorkie will open up options for them. im not talking about 15lbs (nothing wrong with 15lbs) but i think 8-10lbs is a good size for some families and i know some people are againist it but everyone thinks and feels differently and there is nothing wrong with that. i also know that some people dont like the "deisgner " breeds, but personally i like them. i have one and they are so cute and popular. i would love a morky. and maybe thats an option for me. i really appreciated EVERYONES comment they were ALL kind and good advice, i maybe i just have a thick skull, but then again i might never do anything with Remmie other than love him. it just depends on the circumstances. i will not breed him with my little girl because she has some bad traits. so all in all i will probably never breed him but i would have liked the thought that i could. i think he is a cutie!!!

i just hope you will think about it and remember when you bought him, you thought you were getting a smaller yorkie and was upset. please dont be apart of this terrible circle of people breeding nonstandard puppies. there have been so many post about people paying big bucks for a standard akc reg yorkie and it ends up being larger than the 7lbls. i know...i was one of them. yet i love kirby to death, i still get upset when i see people breeding just to do it and not for keeping the wonderful standard of a canine that we have all grown to love
so please think about it

i really appreciate everyone's understanding, even though i know im not right i think everyone understands where i am coming from. i been thinking alot this evening about it...i doubt i will ever breed Rems. i love him, he very sweet when he wants to be..lol...

remember when you breed, you breed to better the breed. I'm sure you love him and thats all that matters, he is a cute baby and he is lucky to have you. Make sure you do your homework on breeding, I have never bred and I had thought about it when Kloey was here, but after she passed I figured it was not meant to be.

My first Yorkie also turned out oversized and even though I loved him very much, I was disappointed that he was loarger than I had expected. When the standard says 4 - 7 lbs. we are all expecting it to be within that size range. I believe it is also fairly standard to use a smaller male for breeding since you can't use a real small female. All that said, he is a cutie@ I know he brings you joy!

I agree with what everyone has said but it sounds like you've made up your mind anyway. He is a sweet boy but I would not breed him nor would I buy from the breeder after seeing his parents...but that's just me.

You breed to better the breed. You breed within the breed standards...end of discussion.

Otherwise, you get more of dogs that do not look like true yorkies and you'll get more members that join wondering if their dog is a purebred.

To keep a male dog for breeding they need to be close to flawless, bitches can have a few more faults but our males need to be very good. It is hard to take the news but it is true your male is not of breeding quality, he may be very cute but it takes more, a lot more than your dog has to be used for a stud. Now there are a lot of people that will sugar coat this for you but I think you want to hear the truth, if not why bother to ask. Your big boy has many many faults, but that does not mean he is not going to make a wonderful pet for you. You need to get him neutered as soon as possible before he starts marking his house and then your husband will really have something to complain about. If you want to be a breeder you need to buy from a quality breeder, good dogs are expensive but you can sure tell the difference.

I know this in not what you wanted to hear as I do believe you want to breed your dog and you may choose to do so it is your right , but why make more dogs that are not with in the standard or that people even question the breed. I wonder if he has all these faults that you can see I also wonder about the ones you can not see....Just a thought.
