i swear this is the last time i ask.. 4 Attachment(s) he eveyone i have a almost 6 month old male yorkie who is around 7 1/2 lbs..(so big already) and i was upset about how big he got because i really want to try breeding one day..but then i came across a breeder who breeds the large ones sometimes for familes and was interested in using my remmie which made me feel better because i really want to breed someday. but my husband keeps saying that Remi isnt right, he is to long, his hair is to course and short, his colors arent right, his nose isnt right, his ears arent right. and it has really upset me he keeps saying that Remmie is mixed and that his papers were probably fake. he compares Remmie to little girl who is mixed yorkie/pom and that little girl had a long silky coat at his age (i dont remeber if that is true or not) and saying that remmie is ugly! i know that his coat isnt silky at all and that it is really short and taking a long time to come in and that can e normal, i knowthat he will never have along coat but im really upset about him not being what i wanted, i still love him to death but is what my husband stated true? and my husband doesnt like him because he is really rambucioius biting and jumping playing and stuf i try to remind him he is just a baby, but i dont think he understands he just says little girl was never like this or magnum for that matter. so here are some pics of remmie at 5 months and 3 months tell me for sure if he is not right once and for all............ Thanks in advance!! |
More pics 4 Attachment(s) more pics of remmie |
Awww! He is such a cutie. Who could not love that face? He's a precious Yorkie, I wouldn't necessarily found a breeding line on him but just love & enjoy him. Its in his nature to be rambunctious and he's still a puppy. If hubby doesn't like his energy, he probably wouldn't like a tiny ears up Yorkie either. Don't let anybody run him down.:aimeeyork |
Remmie Once and for all, Remmie is not "right" for breeding...he is "right" for companionship and love. Best wishes PS..if you want a breed quality Yorkie, deal with breeders who sell breed quality..good luck... |
2 Attachment(s) and more... |
He looks like a Yorkie to me. Mimi has his same features and at 4 months she is already 4 lbs....and still growing. Mimi's hair is growing fairly quick but Timmy's coat isn't. It all depends on their hair growth...some are quicker than others. He is still a baby and as I learned on YT their coats can take up to 2 yrs to grow. I love the long look but I think I am going to keep mine short. They play alot and contantly dragging eachother on the floor so for now I think its best that I keep them short because Mimi gets matted easily. He is such a cuite pie! |

Remmie I was just reading your post and my two boys saw Remmie's picture and both went "Awww, he's so cute". He looks all yorkie to me and most yorkies are on the long side, they're now just breeding them to make them shorter. I don't think I'd necessarily use him for breeding though. His ears don't look like they stand all the time. I know how it is to not get what you wanted though. I bought a long haired chihuahua years ago. I paid a lot for what I wanted(a small long haired dog). She turned out to be about 12-15 pounds  She lived 15 years and I loved her but I always wished she was that tiny long haired dog I saw in magazines. |
Looks like a Yorkie to me! I wouldn't breed him though, I'd neuter him and love him as a pet and companion, like I did with my Google. I neutered him even though I had offers from people to breed him--as beatutiful as Google is though and that he's purebred, I don't think he's considered a breed standard--his fur is too light. He is a well-demeanered sweet dog and everyone who comes in contact with him loves him, even people who say they aren't "dog people." One of my co-workers wanted to breed him too, she has a Yorkie/Shi-Tzu mix but I didn't think that would do ANYTHING for the breed because her girl is part shi-tzu and so the puppies wouldn't be full-bred. |
I think he is a cutie pie!!!!! I belive your husband was mean to say these things, I do agree some of them are true. I'm sure he was only trying to help. If he is already 7.8lbs at almost 6months he is to big to breed b/c he could gain more, I'm not trying to hurt your feeling please don't take it that way. I think he is wirely coat I have one like that and he is a year old and his hair does not grow fast, he's only 4 lbs. Best wishes |
I think remmie is definitely purebred! He's absolutely adorable!!! As far as size goes....my newest puppy is 9lbs at 4 months. Yorkies come in all different shapes and sizes and they all have different hair. Remmie may not seem to be the standard Yorkie, but that doesn't mean he's a mix. I have three purebreds and they all look different, feel different, and act different.:D |
Tammy, Remmie is adorable!! I mean. I think that he looks just like my BOY Zoe. I can't believe anyone would say that he's ugly. My Zoe's hair used to be coarse and I shaved it off and now its growing back shiney, silky and soft. It may just be the baby hair. Your Remmie is perfect! |
I have always thought Remmie was precious. I don't care what people say, he is definetly a cute yorkie. And I mean yorkie. |
I think he is a YORKIE the only thing I did agree with your hubby was is size nothng more. He is not a mix breed that's what I think. They (yorkies come in all sizes small to large) |
What a babe.... All he needs is to grow into himself,he is only 6 months old he still has his puppy coat,I would wait until he is a year old to judge if he is a full yorkie...I myself think he is adorable, and think he will prove it to all who doubt him.....:aimeeyork |
Remme is of great PEt Quality. By no means is he suitable for breeding. His coat , his ears, his size, etc. He is beautiful and I can see he is a sweet heart but it wouldn't be wise to breed him.:animal36 |
Yes, Remme is of loving pet quality. And I am sure you love him with all your heart. He looks like such a sweetie. I would have him altered and love him just the same. You really don't want to get in all that mess of breeding him and worry about him. I have included a link from YTCA of pictures of yorkies for you to compare him too: http://ytca.org/frame_index2.html Scroll down to yorkie pictures. |
Thank you everyone for your comments. i do love my Rems and would never get rid of him but it breaks my heart that he isnt up to snuff. i got the male out of the litter to breed one day. and because i know that the male dogs like the human females. i am going to wait and see what he weights at a year, and see what progresses. i know he is on the large side but if he doesnt get any bigger maybe i can still breed with the lady who has one larger female, she mainly breeds standard but i understand and agree her families that what yorkies shouldnt get the tiny ones and that a larger yorkie will open up options for them. im not talking about 15lbs (nothing wrong with 15lbs) but i think 8-10lbs is a good size for some families and i know some people are againist it but everyone thinks and feels differently and there is nothing wrong with that. i also know that some people dont like the "deisgner " breeds, but personally i like them. i have one and they are so cute and popular. i would love a morky. and maybe thats an option for me. i really appreciated EVERYONES comment they were ALL kind and good advice, i maybe i just have a thick skull, but then again i might never do anything with Remmie other than love him. it just depends on the circumstances. i will not breed him with my little girl because she has some bad traits. so all in all i will probably never breed him but i would have liked the thought that i could. i think he is a cutie!!! i want to thank EVERYONE again!!! |
i just hope you will think about it and remember when you bought him, you thought you were getting a smaller yorkie and was upset. please dont be apart of this terrible circle of people breeding nonstandard puppies. there have been so many post about people paying big bucks for a standard akc reg yorkie and it ends up being larger than the 7lbls. i know...i was one of them. yet i love kirby to death, i still get upset when i see people breeding just to do it and not for keeping the wonderful standard of a canine that we have all grown to love so please think about it |
i really appreciate everyone's understanding, even though i know im not right i think everyone understands where i am coming from. i been thinking alot this evening about it...i doubt i will ever breed Rems. i love him, he very sweet when he wants to be..lol... Thanks again |
Remmie is cute. I think he is a true yorkie. |

remember when you breed, you breed to better the breed. I'm sure you love him and thats all that matters, he is a cute baby and he is lucky to have you. Make sure you do your homework on breeding, I have never bred and I had thought about it when Kloey was here, but after she passed I figured it was not meant to be. |

he a gorgeous yorkie:) |
I agree with what everyone has said but it sounds like you've made up your mind anyway. He is a sweet boy but I would not breed him nor would I buy from the breeder after seeing his parents...but that's just me. You breed to better the breed. You breed within the breed standards...end of discussion. Otherwise, you get more of dogs that do not look like true yorkies and you'll get more members that join wondering if their dog is a purebred. |
To keep a male dog for breeding they need to be close to flawless, bitches can have a few more faults but our males need to be very good. It is hard to take the news but it is true your male is not of breeding quality, he may be very cute but it takes more, a lot more than your dog has to be used for a stud. Now there are a lot of people that will sugar coat this for you but I think you want to hear the truth, if not why bother to ask. Your big boy has many many faults, but that does not mean he is not going to make a wonderful pet for you. You need to get him neutered as soon as possible before he starts marking his house and then your husband will really have something to complain about. If you want to be a breeder you need to buy from a quality breeder, good dogs are expensive but you can sure tell the difference. I know this in not what you wanted to hear as I do believe you want to breed your dog and you may choose to do so it is your right , but why make more dogs that are not with in the standard or that people even question the breed. I wonder if he has all these faults that you can see I also wonder about the ones you can not see....Just a thought. Debbie Ray www.sumtoiyorkies.com |
