| Summer Cut for my cotton coat Roxie Just got her cut today! Wish I didn't have to do it, but I did. Roxie matts and tangles so easy due to her cotton coat. I have tried to let it grow out but the torture for the both of us is too much! I think of those who do such a great job like Villette with Chanel and I feel envious. Roxie is 1 1/2 years old and approx 6.5lbs and still pretty dark which is seems to be common in a cotton coated yorkie. Yes, her eyes flash orange/red in pictures when taken too. But I do love her so!

| Girl, I don't blame you. It's looking like my puppy might end up being a cotton-coat, and if so, it's the permanent "summer cut" route for us!!! I already had to shave off her puppy coat, b/c I couldn't even get a comb through it anymore. Luckily....yorkies look JUST as cute, EITHER way!

| Three of mine have the silk coat and it is so much easier to care for. Rudy has a cotton coat and it take me twice as long to comb and bath him. I need to cut him for the summer, he is a happier boy with his hair cut. Roxie is a cutie with her summer cut.

| aww she's a cutie pie. My Dougal dog has a cotton coat and I keep his coat fairly short. it's growing out a bit at the moment and he just looks like a teddy bear. Your wee lass looks like a huggable loveable teddy bear too!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMGosh she looks SO CUTE ! Like a little teddy bear Chanel had a similar cut and she loved it - I laughed for a week but secretly loved it too ! NO BRUSHING ! Roxie looks alot like Chanel in her picture. When Chanels hair was growing out - I really got on top of it and I'll share a tip ....a dematting comb HELPS SO MUCH ! When the hair is cottony - the dematting comb will rake out all the dead or fluffy hair....I love what it does for Chanels hair....I use one on her about 1x per week just too keep it tangle free and thin it a little. Cottony Coats are like a Q-Tip ...the hair can easily matt and a dematting comb will really help. the other Product I love is Plush Puppy Sea Breeze Oil - I'm on my 2nd bottle for Chanel. It really helps keep the hair moisturized and soft....and FLAT ! Roxie is a cutie !! Here's Chanel looking like Roxie

| Thank you all for your comments. Like I said, I have tried to let it go grow but the matts are a killer. I have scissors in one hand and the comb/brush in another. The scissors are for cutting the numerous matts she gets if I just skip a few days of grooming. Villette, I will try the comb to see if that will help. You are right-her hair is thick and thinning should help. Right now when people ask me what she is- I say she is a Ewok from Star Wars. Its funny because they always laugh and say, " You are right!" Everyone always thinks she looks fat when her hair grows out and she does because cotton coats don't lay flat. But as soon as I get her hair cut ( or a bath) she is a skinny minnie. Yep that is what she is- a teddy bear AKA Ewok!
